  • Patent number: 7242687
Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a method, system, and apparatus provide a substantially balanced distribution of multiple communication sessions across multiple processing timeslots. When a request to establish a communication session is received, a processing timeslot is allocated and associated with that communication session according to a load balancing scheme to distribute communication sessions across the processing timeslots. Subsequent information for a communication session is processed during the allocated timeslot for that communication session.

  • Patent number: 7155716
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method, system, and apparatus provide prioritized, fair, and weighted task scheduling for a shared execution queue. New tasks are prioritized according to their processing requirements and held in one or more queues according to their priority levels. Tasks are retrieved from each queue in a fair and weighted manner according to the priority level of each queue. In one embodiment, tasks of approximately equal total processing requirements/time are retrieved from each storage queue in a given task retrieval cycle.

  • Patent number: 6405168
Abstract: A speech recognition training system that provides for model generation to be used within speaker dependent speech recognition systems requiring very limited training data, including single token training. The present invention provides a very fast and reliable training method based on the segmentation of a speech signal for subsequent estimating of speaker dependent word models. In addition, the invention provides for a robust method of performing end-point detection of a word contained within a speech utterance or speech signal. The invention is geared ideally for speaker dependent speech recognition systems that employ word-based speaker dependent models. The invention provides the end-point detection method is operable to extract a desired word or phrase from a speech signal that is recorded in varying degrees of undesirable background noise. In addition, the invention provides a simplified method of building the speaker dependent models using a simplified hidden Markov modeling method.

  • Publication number: 20020040381
Abstract: One aspect of the invention provides a novel scheme to perform automatic load distribution in a multi-channel processing system. A scheduler periodically creates job handles for received data and stores the handles in a queue. As each processor finishes processing a task, it automatically checks the queue to obtain a new processing task. The processor indicates that a task has been completed when the corresponding data has been processed.

  • Patent number: 5706369
Abstract: A resolution conversion system for real-time expansion and reduction of a first plurality of input pixels into a second plurality of output pixels. The resolution conversion system comprises a base-n counter for counting input pixels as each pixel is captured. The base-n counter has a plurality of carry out signals. Also, there is a control register for selectively enabling the carry out signals of the base-n counter based on a predetermined resolution ratio between the first plurality of input pixels and the second plurality of output pixels. The control register uses a mode bit to select either one of inserting and removing operations. An inserting logic unit is used for inserting, as indicated by the mode bit, a pixel into the plurality of input pixels upon a transition of one of the carry out signals if the carry out signals have been enabled by the control register.
