  • Patent number: 10412343
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a processor of a network device, data packets to be communicated to a multicast destination. The method includes recording, with the network device, performance data associated with the data packets, where the performance data is associated with a performance metric. The method includes determining, with the processor, a trend based on the performance data. The method also includes sending a warning from the processor to a performance server based on the trend satisfying a condition.

Date of Patent: September 10, 2019
    Assignee: AT&T INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY I, L.P.

  • Patent number: 9106800
Abstract: Systems and methods of monitoring packet delivery are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes querying multiple network devices for performance metrics corresponding to video data packets sent from a video server. The network devices may include multicast branching points between the video server and the destination. A delivery failure may be identified based on the performance metrics, and a response to the delivery failure may be initiated.

  • Patent number: 7873276
Abstract: A system and method for registration of network units is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an optical network unit (ONU) in a passive optical network (PON) that can have a controller element to receive a registration code, send the registration code and a serial number of the ONU to an optical line terminal (OLT) that configures the ONU for temporary connectivity with the PON, and upon an expiration of the registration code or a termination of the temporary connectivity, re-send the serial number to the OLT to re-configure the connectivity with the PON. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070274720
Abstract: Optical network unit activation may be provided. First, an account may be associated with a port ID and a first ID. Next, activation data may be received including a serial number of a device and a received ID. Then, it may be determined that the data was received on a port corresponding to the port ID and that the received ID corresponds to the first ID. Next, in response to determining that the data was received on the port corresponding to the port ID and that the received ID corresponds to the first ID, the device may be activated to received at least one service associated with the account.
