  • Patent number: 11911276
Abstract: A collar arranged to couple to a prosthetic component for implantation at the end of a long bone, the prosthetic component having a distal portion arranged to couple to the bone and a proximal neck portion arranged to couple to an articulation component. The collar comprises a plate including a neck hole to receive a neck portion, such that the collar can rotate about the neck portion. The collar further comprises a plurality of attachment portions for coupling the plate to bone fragments or soft tissues. The collar is lockable to the neck portion to prevent further rotation. A prosthesis comprising a combination of a collar, a prosthetic component and an articulation component, and a surgical method of using the collar are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9688823
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the melted production, especially by reactive extrusion, of block copolyamide comprising at least one aliphatic polyamide block and at least one semi-aromatic block, especially wherein the aromatic group has at least one hydroxyl or sulfonate function. The invention also relates to the block copolyamide that can be produced by said method; to a composition comprising the block copolyamide; to granules comprising such a copolyamide or such a composition; to a method for producing an item from a copolyamide or a composition of said copolyamide; and to uses of the copolyamide.

  • Patent number: 9290657
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a compound U comprising at least one urethane functional group, and its use as a fluidizing agent or fluidizing agent precursor in a process for preparing a polyamide article. The process comprises heating a composition comprising at least one polyamide PA and at least one compound U comprising at least one urethane functional group, at a temperature T, for a time t and at a pressure P, wherein the temperature T and the time t are such that CO2 is generated and the melt viscosity of the composition is decreased, in comparison with the melt viscosity of the composition without compound U, and recovering the article. The fluidizing agent can further enable the production of an article that has an unreduced density and/or in which the mean molar mass of the polymers of the composition is increased.

  • Publication number: 20150158989
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a foamed item, including the following steps: a) heating a composition including, or consisting of, at least one polyamide PA, at least one compound U including at least one urethane function, particularly a polyurethane PU, at least one reinforcing filler, the content of which is no lower than 10 wt % of the total weight of the composition, and temperature T such that: the compound U directly or indirectly generates CO2, the polyamide is melted, and in particular, such that the composition is injectable; b) injecting or extruding said composition, the injection particularly being injection molding; and c) recovering the foamed item and an expandable granule including, or consisting of, at least one polyamide, at least one compound U, particularly a polyurethane PU, and at least one reinforcing filler, the content of reinforcing filler being no lower than 10 wt % of the total weight of the composition.

  • Publication number: 20150051335
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a specific compound as a fluidizing agent or as a fluidizing agent precursor in the molten state for a composition including a thermoplastic polymer, in particular a polyamide. The invention further relates to a method for preparing a polyamide article in which the viscosity, in the molten state, of a composition including the polyamide is decreased. The fluidizing agent can further enable the production of an article which has an unreduced density and/or in which the mean molar mass of the polymers of the composition is increased.
