  • Patent number: 6149074
Abstract: The housing is heated or cooled to adjust its diameter and, in particular, the play between the tips of the rotor blades and the housing. The apparatus consists of networks of tubes (1) covering complementary portions of the circumference of the housing and consisting of a pair of distributors (3) and parallel tubes (2) between said distributors, said tubes (2) being alternately connected to one or other of the distributors and provided with apertures to blow the gas onto the housing. The counter-flow circulation in the tubes (2) makes it possible to supply both gas that has been greatly heated by traveling a considerable distance through the tubes (2) and cooler gas that has traveled less far in other tubes (2) to any point on the housing, thereby balancing out the heat applied to every portion of the housing.

  • Patent number: 5854346
Abstract: An improved toughened blend of an aromatic polyester with from 5 to 20 phr of an impact modifier, which impact modifier is a blend of (a) 80 to 85 weight percent of a core/shell impact modifier having a polybutadiene core and at least one shell formed from methyl methacrylate and styrene; and (b) 15 to 20 weight percent of a linear copolymer which contains from 50 to 85 parts of units derived from ethylene, from 5 to 40 parts of units derived from (meth)acrylic esters, and from 2 to 10 parts of a copolymerizable monomer containing an epoxy group. The toughened blend exhibits higher impact strength than would be calculated for the blend using a linear relationship based on values of notched Izod for two blends, each containing only one of the impact modifiers at an equal use level.

  • Patent number: 5079496
Abstract: A plurifunction device for regulating the excitation voltage of an alternator for charging the battery of an automobile vehicle, comprising battery and alternator phase voltage inputs, an excitation regulation output and a terminal connected to an indicator lamp. It also includes field coil power excitation control circuit, a battery voltage sensing circuit connected to the battery voltage input to supply a signal indicating that an alternator-battery connection is broken and an excitation regulation signal related to the peak and average values of the battery voltage. An alternator phase voltage amplitude sensing circuit supplies a first sensing signal related to a first threshold value authorizing the establishing of an excitation current with a frequency and cyclic ratio imposed by an alternator phase voltage signal applied to the alternator phase voltage input to initiate cutting in of the alternator.
