  • Process for replacing a worn steam generator of a pressurized water nuclear reactor

    Abstract: The process comprises separating the worn steam generator from the primary circuit of the reactor by cutting pipes of the primary circuit, extracting the worn steam generator from the reactor and placing in position in the reactor a new replacement steam generator (21) and connecting by welding the lower part (21a) of the replacement steam generator (21) to the pipes (23, 25) of the primary circuit. The process further comprises welding to at least one of the nozzles (24a, 24b) of the lower part (21a) of the replacement steam generator (21) at least one elbow (26, 27) for connection to a pipe (23, 25) of the primary circuit prior to the introduction and the positioning of the replacement steam generator (21) in the reactor.
