  • Publication number: 20240168001
Abstract: Multiple subterranean probes at an area of land detect soil conditions and wirelessly transmit soil condition information to a service provider's backend server or to a technician's hand-held wireless device. The server provides multiple user interface screens of a customer application that display soil condition information and irrigation system status. Local micro weather stations may determine and wirelessly transmit weather condition information to the server. An energy emission detecting appliance may be used to acquire information usable to determine fluorescence of grass. The determined fluorescence may be used to train a learning model. The learning trained model may use historical soil condition and fluorescence information to determine a stress level corresponding to the grass. The stress level may be used to modify an irrigation or fertilization schedule.

The server provides multiple user interface screens of a customer application that display soil condition information and irrigation's system status. Local micro weather stations may determine and wirelessly transmit weather condition information to the server. An installer may use the customer application to determine that received signal strength at a given probe is weak and should thus be relocated, or to determine refined location information corresponding to the probe. Historical soil condition information and artificial intelligence may predict soil conditions where a previously installed probe has been moved or quit working. Probes' housings seal internal electronics, including soil condition sensors, wireless communication modules, processors, and memory.

  • Patent number: 5510776
Abstract: A plurality of optical projectors focus telltale messages, one at a time, onto a vehicle instrument panel display area. In one embodiment a logic circuit assigns priority to the messages and displays only the message of higher priority when more than one message is prompted. The projection lamps are high intensity LEDs arranged in parallel but having diodes in series with lower priority lamps to hold them off when a higher priority lamp is energized. A constant current source regulates the LED current. In another embodiment two message lamps are controlled by a logic circuit such that when both are prompted for display an oscillator causes the messages to be displayed alternately, but when either message alone is prompted, its lamp will be energized continuously.

  • Patent number: 5486840
Abstract: Glare and spurious reflections of external light on the image source of a head up display are eliminated by a circular polarizer in the optical path of the display. The head up display includes a mirror system for projecting a pattern from the image source onto a vehicle windshield where it is reflected to the operator, wherein polarization is effected at the windshield reflection. The circular polarizer includes a linear polarizer and a quarter wave plate arranged to extinguish the external incident light after reflection from the image source. The linear polarizer axis is aligned with the polarization axis at the windshield to optimize the brightness of the display.
