Publication number: 20240247578Abstract: A system and method that include receiving a well plan and determining a plurality of sections of the well plan and receiving data from surface and downhole to determine a current location of a drill bit. The system and method also include analyzing the well plan to automatically derive trajectory constraints that are associated with each of the plurality of sections of the well plan. The system and method additionally include determining a plurality of trajectory candidates that pertain to respective paths from the current location of a drill bit to respective targets included within each of the plurality of sections of the well plan based on a consideration of the trajectory constraints. The system and method further include determining a working plan that includes an optimal path from the current location of the drill bit to reach a final target based on the plurality of trajectory candidates.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 7, 2024Publication date: July 25, 2024Inventors: Samba Holger White Ba, Lu Jiang, Adrien Chassard, Magnus Hedlund, Maja Ignova, Katharine Mantle, Jinsoo Kim, Tao Yu, Farid Toghi, Hendrik Suryadi, Qing Liu, Diego Medina

Publication number: 20240145838Abstract: A high power density battery pack for a solar-electric vehicle includes a frame with compartments for battery modules arranged therein. The modules are in thermal communication with a unitary cooling plate disposed underneath. The modules include an array of secondary cells arranged in bottom and top carriers. The bottoms of the cells are in thermal communication with a heat spreader. The cells are oriented with their electrodes in a common plane and electrically isolated by the top carrier. One or more potting materials fills the interstitial spaces between the cells. The cells are connected in parallel and series by interconnects. A module monitoring system tracks the voltage and temperature of the modules. Modules are connected in series by intra-row and inter-row interconnects. A battery management system provides a solar charging mode for both stationary and in-motion vehicle operation, and a low-power quiescent mode when the vehicle is powered down.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2023Publication date: May 2, 2024Applicant: APTERA MOTORS CORP.Inventors: Luke BOCKMAN, Daniel THORP, Diego MEDINA, Thomas HART, Ahmed FOUAD

Patent number: 11790320Abstract: An improved approach to creating a plan for a well. A user receives an initial well plan for a planned well and uses the initial well plan as a starting point for alternate well plans. This is done by creating a copy of the initial well plan, allowing the various uses to make changes to the initial well plan, and executing various automatic validation routines on the alternate designs. These validation routines can provide estimated times and costs to complete the planned well use the alternate well plan. The approach can also involved displaying the estimated times and costs of the different candidate well plans. The user can then select one of the candidate well plans as the master well plan. As replanning is done during the operations, this replanning information, along with the actual executed actions, is captured and stored.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2021Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Shaoyu Chen, Ping Lyu, Kevin Hermansen, Qingrui Li, Diego Medina, Yingfei Hu, Petter Laurentius Eide, Lucian Johnston

Patent number: 11668849Abstract: A method can include accessing data associated with a well and one or more offset wells; based on at least a portion of the data, generating a set of distributions via parametric estimation, where the distributions are associated with a well-related activity and time; analyzing individual distributions in the set of distributions with respect to at least a portion of the data to pass or fail each of the individual distributions; and, for one or more passed individual distributions, outputting one of the passed individual distributions for the well.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2019Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Qing Liu, Wanning Liu, Cheolkyun Jeong, Diego Medina, Yingfei Hu

Publication number: 20220372860Abstract: A method for generating a drilling plan for drilling a wellbore at a field includes receiving data. The data includes one or more of geological properties at the field, wellbore properties, drilling tool parameters, rig characteristics of drilling rigs, and working practices of a plurality of drilling crews. The method also includes generating a plurality of candidate drilling plans for drilling the wellbore at the field. The method also includes estimating one or more outputs for the candidate drilling plans based at least partially upon the data. The one or more outputs include an amount of emissions generated to drill the wellbore using the candidate drilling plans. The method also includes presenting for selection one or more of the candidate drilling plans based at least partially upon the one or more outputs.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2022Publication date: November 24, 2022Inventors: Marcos Allen, Paul Bolchover, Kevin Andre Hermansen, Ashley Bernard Johnson, Diego Medina, Aleksandr Nifantov, Chaobo Qi
