  • Patent number: 12383827
Abstract: The technology provides a computing device and method of operation that includes receiving, by the computing device, content from a remote service. The method identifies a latency issue associated with the content, and determines a set of diagnostic options based on information about the content and the latency issue. The set of diagnostic options identifies at least one of network information or display information. The method includes generating, for presentation on a display device via a graphical user interface, a notification indicating the latency issue and the set of diagnostic options. The notification includes an option to access the set of diagnostic options in order to address the latency issue.

  • Patent number: 12067230
Abstract: Aspects of the technology utilize an integrated computing device that supports a shared, communal interaction while still enabling a personalized experience. This includes a unified desktop experience based on presence, a shared family or common space as part of an ambient visual display, and seamless switching involving user interface elements when the display device is rotatable. A presence sensor detects whether someone is at or near the device. When at least one person is identified, specific information is surfaced on a display based on the current context, enabling the person(s) to interact with the device in selected ways. The device evaluates a current presentation state of the display and selects content items to present. The presentation state can include content currently being displayed, other context signals, or any other information associated with the state of the device, such as whether the device is locked or logged-in, for example.

  • Patent number: 11928259
Abstract: A method can include determining that a measured distance, of an object in contact with a touchscreen, from a sensor included in the touchscreen, is less than or equal to a first distance and equal to or greater than a second distance, based on determining that the measured distance of the object from the sensor is less than or equal to the first distance and equal to or greater than the second distance, providing haptic feedback as a function of the measured distance, the haptic feedback being greater for smaller measured distances; determining that the measured distance is less than the second distance; and in response to determining that the measured distance is less than the second distance, decreasing the haptic feedback.

  • Publication number: 20240069709
Abstract: The technology provides a computing device having a communication module configured to communicate with one or more remote services to receive content, a display module configured to display the content to a user, a user input device that includes one or more customizable features corresponding to the content received from a given one of the remote services, and a processing module. The processing module is configured to associate a given one of the one or more customizable features with a specific element of the user input device, identify selection of the given one of the one or more customizable features, and, in response to the identified selection of the given one of the one or more customizable features, prioritize interaction with the content over one or more other functions performed by the computing device.
