Abstract: A control system for controlling auxiliary devices of a printing press. Auxiliary devices are connected to a centralized system controller for operation thereof. The system controller provides an image of control panels for controlling each of the auxiliary devices on a single display screen. A touch screen controller is combined with the display screen and the system controller, allowing a press operator to set and control the operating parameters of the devices from control panel images on the display. The parameters for the auxiliary devices may be saved as a set and recalled for later use on similar job runs.

Abstract: A cleaning system for a printing line having a plurality of printing units which each include a plurality of printing cylinders, such as blanket cylinders and/or plate cylinders. The cleaning system includes a cleaning device associated with each printing cylinder, which includes a rotatable brush roller that is selectively movable into and out of engagement with the respective printing cylinder. Each cleaning device further includes a cleaning fluid distribution tube for applying cleaning fluid to the brush roller to facilitate removal of foreign matter from the printing cylinder during a cleaning operation and a flicker bar that is selectively engageable with the brush roller to effect removal of foreign matter and used fluid carried thereby.

Abstract: A powder sprayer having a housing for containing a quantity of powder, a rotatable roller for metering the discharge of powder from the housing, a powder supply hopper remote from the housing, first and second conduits connecting the powder supply and housing, and a selectively operable regenerative type blower disposed in one of the conduits. The first and second conduits, blower, housing, and supply hopper define a closed loop through which air and powder may be circulated with relatively low-pressure, high air-flow operation for reliably transferring powder from the supply hopper to the housing without the tendency for clogging. In one embodiment, the supply hopper has an associated mixing chamber within which powder is pneumatically agitated for creating a relatively rich, substantially constant air-powder mixture for direction to the sprayer housing.

Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning a surface of a blanket cylinder of a printing press containing having foreign matter thereon including a brush unit with a rotatable brush roller that is selectively moveable into and out of engagement with the surface to be cleaned. The brush unit includes a flicker bar which is moveable in timed relation to movement of the brush unit between an inoperative position removed from the brush and an operative position engaging the brush roller to effect removal of foreign matter carried by the brush roller.
