  • Publication number: 20220091044
Abstract: An optical system includes an optical resonant cavity, an optical source, an optical detector, and a signal processing circuit. The optical source is arranged to provide a source beam of light to be at least partially coupled into the optical resonant cavity. The optical detector is arranged to detect light from the source beam of light after the source beam of light has coupled into the optical resonant cavity to provide a detection signal. The signal processing circuit is configured to communicate with the optical detector to receive the detection signal. The optical resonant cavity has a bioconjugatable lipid membrane on a surface thereof. The bioconjugatable lipid membrane is functionalized to capture a specific biomolecule, and the signal processing circuit is further configured to determine a presence of the specific biomolecule when captured by the functionalized bioconjugatable lipid membrane based on processing the detection signal.

  • Publication number: 20180327833
Abstract: Microarray platforms and methods of fabricating said microarrays without traditional high aspect ratio barriers used to define individual array elements are described herein. Self-assembled nanoshells were stabilized with a polymerized scaffold to enhance the stability in physiological conditions and serve as an optical transducer upon molecular recognition events. Soft photolithography combined with surface chemistry was developed for covalent immobilization of nanoshells onto the pre-patterned arrayed microspots for rapid multiplexed detection of membrane-binding analytes. This robust fabrication methodology is amenable for general lipid structures, and thus facilitates the integration of stable membrane architectures into diagnostic and prognostic platforms. In particular, the microarray platform may be used in diverse applications ranging from the detection of pathogens, such bacterial toxin in biological matrices, to cellular membrane studies.

  • Patent number: 5960185
Abstract: A wafer-disposition method and apparatus are disclosed where the disposition is based on a model of systematic misalignment errors. The method comprises the steps of: modeling the misalignment errors between the mask and wafer as a mathematical model using measured misalignment data, generating a confidence limit of the probability of defect for the wafer, and determining whether the wafer satisfies a predetermined product quality level by comparing the confidence limit to the tolerance specification for the wafer. The misalignment model includes systematic errors and is represented by a polynomial based on the location of test points on the wafer. Preferably, several polynomials are formed and one that best predicts new misalignment data is selected. The confidence limit is created by combining the estimated probabilities of defect for all sliders in the wafer. Also, the product quality determination is based on a variable acceptance sampling procedure using the mathematical model.
