  • Publication number: 20020083918
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling an internal combustion engine, having a control element for controlling the fuel injection. The fuel injection is divided into at least a first partial injection and a second partial injection. A start of triggering of the second partial injection takes place a specifiable first time span after an end of triggering of the first partial injection.

  • Patent number: 6142124
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a load, in particular a solenoid valve for controlling the quantity of fuel to be injected. The load receives a bias current value before being activated. This bias current value is adapted.

  • Patent number: 5880920
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling an electromagnetic switching member having an excitation winding and a movable armature. A first time point and a second time point define a time window. Within the time window, the current characteristic and/or the voltage characteristic is evaluated in order to detect a switching time point at which the armature reaches a new limit position. The time window is enlarged if no reliable switching time point was detected within the time window.

  • Patent number: 5862791
Abstract: A process and a device for controlling an internal combustion engine, in particular for influencing the time of fuel injection into an internal combustion engine, influences a system deviation, which is computed from a setpoint and an actual value. From the system deviation, a controller defines a manipulated variable to be supplied to the actuator. When a set of first operating states is present, a first controller structure is active, and when a set of second operating states is present, a second controller structure is active. At the time of passage from the first controller structure to the second controller structure, an initial value is set for the second controller structure as a function of at least the setpoint and the actual value.

  • Patent number: 5653210
Abstract: A method and a device for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of a final controlling element, in particular for influencing the fuel injected into an internal combustion engine, are described. A system deviation is defined starting from a setpoint and an actual value. On the basis of the system deviation, a loop controller specifies a manipulated variable to be received by the final controlling element. If the system deviation lies outside of a range defined by at least two values, a maximum value is specified for the manipulated variable.

  • Patent number: 5520152
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel internal combustion engine, having at least one solenoid valve, are described. On the basis of a desired quantity of fuel, an actuation period is determined for the solenoid valve and a signal for fixing the end of actuation is prescribed on the basis of the actuation period. Depending on the operating state of the internal combustion engine, the actuation period is determined either by means of a pump characteristic table or the desired quantity of fuel is used directly as the actuation period. Moreover, depending on the operating state of the internal combustion engine, either an uncorrected or a corrected signal is used for fixing the end of actuation.

  • Patent number: 5386810
Abstract: In a system and method for controlling a solenoid-valve-controlled fuel-metering device, in particular for a diesel gasoline engine, the duration of delivery is determined based upon the speed value during the preceding metering-in operation.

  • Patent number: 5261374
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a solenoid-valve-controlled fuel-metering system, especially for a diesel internal combustion engine, provide an electronic control device, which calculates a starting time and/or a stopping time for a solenoid valve based upon at least one of an injection start variable and a feed duration variable. An angle variable is calculated based upon a time variable, taking into consideration at least one of an instantaneous rotational speed and a correction angle.
