  • Patent number: 5988677
Abstract: An airbag module with a gas generator, a blow diffuser, and a gas bag has at least one blow diffuser extending into a fold of the folded gas bag. The blow diffuser extends as far as the region of the gas bag cover and the folded gas bag is fitted essentially beside the blow diffuser and is arranged around it. With this airbag module, the gas bag is drawn from the housing and not pushed in the usual manner.

  • Patent number: 5826901
Abstract: The invention relates to an airbag system for motor vehicles with an airbag and at least one associated gas generator for inflating the airbag in the event of an accident involving the vehicle. According to the invention, the airbag system is fixed on the vehicle where it can be moved at least in part away from the vehicle occupant. To this end, the airbag system is attached to the vehicle so that it can be translated, rotated, or tilted. Preferably it can be moved by the gases emerging from the gas generator after ignition thereof and is fixed on at least one plastically deformable element or spring element. The system according to the invention reduces the risk of injury to the occupant where at the time of inflation of the airbag the vehicle occupant is bending forward in the vehicle seat.

  • Patent number: 4989901
Abstract: The vertical adjustment means for a guide fitting (10) of a safety-belt restraining system in motor vehicles comprises as essential loadbearing element an elongated plate (14) which is mounted pivotally at its one end on the vehicle bodywork while at its other end the guide fitting (10) is secured. By a detent means (16, 30) the elongated plate (14) can be selectively locked in various pivot positions. The height of the guide fitting (10) set is defined by the pivot position of the elongated plate (14).

  • Patent number: 4948168
Abstract: A passive restraining system for vehicle occupants is presented in which the protective action of a gas bag is considerably increased by a knee cushion which is movable out of a rest position into an activated position closer to the knee of the vehicle occupant. To move the knee cushion out of its rest position into its activated position no separate drive mechanism is necessary because the energy required to do this is derived from the expansion pressure of the gas bag which is arranged in the direction of travel in front of the knee cushion and presses the latter into its activated position.

  • Patent number: 4528727
Abstract: Described is an apparatus for releasably clamping a cable or line (6), comprising a housing (1), a clamping lever (3) which is mounted rotatably thereon (at 7) and two clamping surfaces (2, 8) of which the first is arranged on the housing (1) and the second is arranged on the clamping lever (3) and between which the cable or line (6) passes. The cable is also passed around at least one direction-changing means (8-10), the clamping lever (3) being designed for a lever ratio b/a such that at most the coefficient of friction .mu. is attained at the frictional location.

  • Patent number: 4408802
Abstract: An adjustable vehicle seat has an upholstered seat frame and an upholstered back frame. The seat frame is mounted on the vehicle frame independently of the back frame and is adjustable in a heightwise, longitudinally and in an inclined manner with respect to the vehicle frame. The upholstery is displaceable with respect to the seat frame, as well as the back frame.

  • Patent number: 4355772
Abstract: The invention relates to a rapid acting automatic belt arresting means. A housing (10) for a vehicle inertia sensor is integral with a control part (3) which is mounted pivotably on belt shaft (1). When pawl (11) is moved, either by the inertia sensor or a belt sensitive mechanism (18, 21), to engage a locking gear (5) connected to shaft (1), further rotation of the shaft (1) pivots control part (3) which thereby moves a locking pawl (6) into locking engagement with locking gear (5) preventing further belt withdrawal.

  • Patent number: 4254921
Abstract: A winding shaft in a belt roll-up device which has a locking element connected to the winding shaft and a blocking element fastened to the housing. The locking element comes into engagement with the blocking element by a force in the direction of the belt pull exerted upon the winding shaft such as occurs when the belt unwinds too rapidly. The belt is also prevented from completely unwinding by fastening the end of the belt to the winding shaft and by means for exerting a force on the winding shaft for making the locking element respond and engage the blocking element when the last approximately 530.degree. of turns of belt begin to unwind. Thus unwinding of about the last 1 1/2 turns of belt is prevented. This relieves the possible load and damage to the fastening of the end of the belt and to the winding shaft and permits a more economical, efficient design.

  • Patent number: 4181273
Abstract: An automatic, rapid lock, belt roll-up clamp for vehicle safety belts is provided with a belt clamp disposed behind a winding drum. The belt is adapted to be guided with minimal friction between first and second guide points located next to a clamp lever having a joint, and between two clamping surfaces, one of which is attached to a housing, the other of which is located on the clamp lever and both of which are substantially parallel to one another when in contact. The second guide point is pivotally mounted on the housing and located separately from the clamp lever and in front of the clamping surfaces with respect to the direction of belt pull. Clamping occurs by essentially pure normal force produced by pulling action at the first guide point, located on the clamp lever. At substantially completely filled condition of the winding drum, the moving way of the belt between guide points is the same as the moving way between the second guide point and the winding drum.

  • Patent number: 4120466
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for clamping a safety belt to prevent it being unwound from a belt reel, the device consisting of a housing in which is provided a lever, one end of the lever being pivotably mounted in the housing, a clamping surface being provided on the lever intermediate its ends which co-operates with a clamping surface provided on the housing, the lever being resiliently urged to move about its pivot in a direction to separate the clamping surfaces. The belt is guided around the pivoted end of the lever, extends between the clamping surfaces and is guided around the free end of the lever, the resilient means applying a tension force to the belt. Movement of the lever against the force of the resilient means moving the clamping surface on the lever towards the clamping surface on the housing to clamp the belt therebetween.
