  • Patent number: 9956115
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for cutting and aspirating tissue from the human or animal body, in particular for use in vitrectomy, epiretinal membrane peeling, etc., with an outer tube (1), and with an inner tube (2) which is movable to and fro and concentrically in the outer tube (1) with slight play, wherein the outer tube (1) is closed at the free end and has, near the free end, at least one lateral opening (3) with at least one inner cutting edge (5), wherein the inner tube (2) is open at the free end and there has an outer cutting edge (4), and wherein the cutting edges cooperate in a cutting action during the movement of the inner tube (2) relative to the outer tube (1), advantageously characterized by a shaping measure in or on the outer tube (1) and/or in or on the inner tube (2), whereby the inner tube (2), at least in the area of the lateral opening (3), runs in the outer tube (1) with at least slight pretensioning.

  • Publication number: 20170014269
Abstract: The invention relates to a surgical instrument, in particular a vitrector, comprising an outer tube and an inner tube. Both tubes functionally interact. Said surgical instrument is characterized in that the outer tube and/or the inner tube is made from a light conducting material or is coated with said type of material or said type of material comprises a light conducting fiber, core or similar, and is used to conduct light from the proximal end to the or into the area of the distal end.

  • Patent number: 9474646
Abstract: A hollow needle for an instrument used in ocular surgery for the in-vivo disintegration of organic lenses via ultrasound, having a functional part (1) and a connector part (2), with the connector part (2) having handling portions(3) and serving to attach the tool in a removable fashion to a handle, wherein the properties of the handling portions (3) change upon connection of the tool to the handle, removal of the tool from the handle, and/or upon reprocessing of the tool. In addition, a method is disclosed for the production of a corresponding medical tool.

  • Patent number: 5451229
Abstract: A cannula for an eye-surgery instrument, employed to shatter the lens of the eye by high-frequency oscillation and to suction out the fragments. It accommodates a suction channel with a section that is wider toward the tip of the cannula. The wider section (20) comprises at least two straight bores (8, 9, & 10), one wider than another, extending coaxial with the suction channel (7) into the cannula (1) from its tip (5). Fragments of the shattered lens accumulate in the bores in accordance with size, where they can be further fragmented by ultrasound.
