Patent number: 5735711Abstract: A connector (10) for joining coaxial or other cables includes an electronic or other connector (12) located in a housing (11). The housing has outlets (17) and (43) for a distribution cable carrying a signal, and outlets (19) for branch cables which take signals away from that cable to subscribers. The outlets (17)(43) may be separate from and are distinguishable from the branch outlets (19). The housing (11) may comprise a base portion (13) with at least one cover portion (14) or (11) which is releasably secured to the base portion by a snap connection to give easy access to the connectors (12) and cables.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1996Date of Patent: April 7, 1998Assignee: Raychem GmbHInventor: Dieter Fremgen

Patent number: 5486120Abstract: A device is provided for firmly attaching a plurality of coaxial cable terminus to a plurality of standard connection jacks in such a way that each connection point is effectively shielded from tampering by individuals and is effectively sealed from degrading elements in the atmosphere. The device is a locking shroud which defines a plurality of locking shroud chambers, each being adapted to attach to a respective connection jack so as to surround the connection of a cable terminus to the jack. Each locking shroud chamber is attached to one other locking shroud chamber by a flexible web disposed in a curved plane. Because of the flexible webs, the locking shroud can be easily adjusted to fit any standard coaxial cable multiple connection equipment. The use of the locking shroud of the invention makes it difficult to de-attach and/or re-attach the cable terminus to the jack without special tooling.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1993Date of Patent: January 23, 1996Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventors: Corey McMills, John Mattis, Dieter Fremgen

Patent number: 5399811Abstract: A device for sealing cables entering a cable coupling sleeve, comprises a sealing plate consisting of at least two elements which fit together to form openings for insertion of cables. The sealing plate is formed by a substantially centrally arranged inner disc element (5) having opening regions at its outer edge, and by ring elements (6) which externally surround all the opening regions when the device is in its closed position. Optionally sealing material may be positioned around the cables.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1993Date of Patent: March 21, 1995Assignee: Walter Rose GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Dieter Fremgen, Friedbert Papenheim

Patent number: 5363432Abstract: A method of transmitting a broadband electrical signal to a subscriber by means of a telecommunications cable, the telecommunications cable comprising at least one pair of electrical conductors surrounded by an electrical shield, which method comprises applying the broadband signal between (a) the shield and (b) at least one of the conductors of the pair.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1992Date of Patent: November 8, 1994Assignees: Raynet GmbH, Philips GloeilampenfabriekenInventors: Horst Martin, Alfred Naab, Bernhard Hesse, Wolfgang Weidhaas, Gunther Quednau, Dieter Fremgen

Patent number: 5324212Abstract: A device (1) is described for disconnectably connecting cable wires to a contact plate (2). The contact plate contains a through opening (9) and, in use, one of the cable wires to be contacted is urged into contact with the edges of that opening (9). The cable wire is moved by a thrust piece (3) which also contains a through opening (24) and which is moved relative to the through opening (9) in the contact plate by means of a screw element.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1992Date of Patent: June 28, 1994Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventors: Dieter Fremgen, Dieter Adamaszek, Jan Vansant, Filip Vandeputte

Patent number: 5277598Abstract: A device is provided for firmly attaching a plurality of coaxial cable terminus to a plurality of standard connection jacks in such a way that each connection point is effectively shielded from tampering by individuals and is effectively sealed from degrading elements in the atmosphere. The device is a locking shroud which defines a plurality of locking shroud chambers, each adapted to attach to a respective connection jack so as to surround the connection of a cable terminus to the jack. The use of the locking shroud of the invention makes it difficult to de-attach and/or re-attach the cable terminus to the jack without special tooling. The use of the locking shroud further makes it difficult to break off the locking shroud by twisting the shroud, such as with a pair of pliers. The device can be used to make coaxial cable connections secure from tampering and atmospheric degradation. It is simple and inexpensive to install and maintain.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1992Date of Patent: January 11, 1994Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventors: Corey McMills, John Mattis, Dieter Fremgen

Patent number: 5071365Abstract: A cable connector clamping connector comprises a plastics housing consisting of at least two elements having integrated therein a contact blade for contacting the ends of cable conductors which have been pushed into the housing. After inserting the cable conductors, the housing halves can be pushed together to lock, applying to the cable conductors the force necessary to press them into the contact blades for contacting. In order to make it possible for the user to check the depth of insertion in order to be certain that contacting is guaranteed in every case and with which, at the same time, a catch effect with respect to the outlet direction of the conductors is achieved, a resistance element, in the form of a plastics tongue, for tangibly signalling the depth of insertion of the cable conductor into the housing is provided in the effective insertion channel of each cable conductor, behind the contact blade in the direction of insertion.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1991Date of Patent: December 10, 1991Assignee: Raychem CorporationInventors: Dieter Fremgen, Horst Hoffmann, Alban Vernaleken

Patent number: 4738633Abstract: A device for making an electrically conductive contact to an insulated cable lead, comprising a holder for the cable lead which is to be contacted, and an electrically conductive perforation needle for penetrating the insulating jacket of the lead. In a preferred embodiment an indicator unit shows when successful contact has been made. The device allows contact to be made to an existing cable lead without cutting that cable lead. It also causes minimal damage to the insulation of the existing cable.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Walter Rose GmbH & Co., KGInventors: Dieter Fremgen, Heinz Penz, Georg Reitmeyer, Rolf-Udo Weber
