  • Patent number: 4603866
Abstract: The inside of a planar, annular disk having a thickness of from about 0.8 to about 2 mm is cold flexed into a cylindrical, sealing stub about a shaft. For this, the inside diameter of the disk before cold flexing about the shaft is from about 1 to about 6 times the thickness of the disk less than the diameter of the shaft. A stiffening ring is sealingly attached about the outside of the disk with the line of the innermost attachment therebetween being from about 1.1 to about 4 times the thickness of the disk from the surface of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4568092
Abstract: A seal comprises a disk flared to bear on a machine element to be sealed at two zones separated by an axial distance therealong has the machine element. The side of the flared disk along two hydrodynamically-acting back-feed elements which intersect each other.

  • Patent number: 4526383
Abstract: Sealing device for rotating and for reciprocating machine parts, consisting of a stiffening ring with angular profile and a lipring, the lipring consisting of PTFE or a similar material, having a rotational section deflected in the direction of the sealed medium, as well as a holding section which is fixed relatively to the inwardly directed carrying web of the profile of the stiffening ring by means of a rubber-elastic, liquid- and gastight intermediate layer, the holding section, the carrying web and the intermediate layer being connected together as one piece, the layer having a thickness of at least 0.5 mm as well as a Shore A hardness of 65 to 85.

  • Patent number: 4484981
Abstract: Apparatus for processing paper wherein a pair of endless curved wire devices operate to pass therebetween a sheet material to be treated for a dewatering operation or the like. A support structure in the form of individual support segments made from sintered oxide ceramics are arranged to extend over the width of the apparatus and are in contact with one another, with a plurality of the segments being arranged consecutively in the direction of the course of the wire devices, the segments having a maximum linear expanse of 700 mm per segment and having junction areas between consecutively arranged segments defining a gap for feeding cooling water to the guide wire devices.

  • Patent number: 4447064
Abstract: A radial shaft sealing ring is disclosed which comprises a lip ring having a sealing lip which is resiliently pressed against the shaft to be sealed. The lip ring has a conical inner surface which surrounds the shaft and faces the liquid to be sealed off. A plurality of liquid deflectors are associated with the lip ring on the side of the sealing lip facing the sealed off liquid. The liquid deflectors are spaced apart around the circumferential periphery of the shaft. The liquid deflector have a leading surface which is essentially parallel to the axis of the shaft and which is inclined or curved forward toward the direction of shaft rotation. The inner edge of the liquid deflectors is a knife-edge like wiper which merges into the inclined or curved leading surface and which is spaced from the peripheral surface of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4120432
Abstract: A castor for pulverous, granular or lumpy substances such as spices is disclosed. The castor comprises a hollow body, a cap insert provided with an aperture and adapted to close off an opening in the body apart from the aperture in the cap insert. The cap insert rotatably supports a cover slide provided with a sieve plate having a plurality of differently apertured regions which -- on rotation of the slide -- can be selectably positioned over the aperture in the cap insert. The slide is provided with a sleeve structure connected to the sieve plate and having a plurality of sleeve elements each encompassing a respective one of the apertured regions in the sieve plate. Each sleeve element extends substantially perpendicularly from the side of the sieve plate remote from the cap insert to contact the underside of a lid on the latter being received by the castor.

  • Patent number: 4003506
Abstract: A caster for pulverulent, granular or lumpy substances such as spices. The caster comprises a hollow body defining a storage chamber and at an outlet thereof is provided with a generally cylindrical wall portion defining a cavity of circular cross-section. Recess means are provided in the generally cylindrical wall portion to at least partially encompass the cavity. The caster includes a cap insert of synthetic material having a resilient portion latachably engaging the recess means to retain the cap insert on the body. A hollow cylindrical portion of the cap insert has an external diameter substantially equal to that of the cavity and is received in the cavity. A perforate plate portion of the cap insert extends across the interior of the hollow cylindrical portion and is perforate in at least one of a plurality of spatially differentiated regions of the plate portion. A cover slide is carried by the cap insert and is rotatably mounted in the interior of the hollow cylindrical portion thereof.
