    Abstract: A measuring probe to detect pocket depth of a tooth holding apparatus by inserting a feeler as far as the bottom of the gum pocket. A light beam is generated which can be moved relative to the feeler. A detector detects reflected light beams by being irradiated with the reflected light beams while the detector outputs the detected signals to an evaluator. The evaluator evaluates the output signals to determine the pocket depth.
