Abstract: A paste-form to solid detergent composition is provided consisting of a) 21 to 70 percent by weight of an aqueous lye solution having a concentration of 42 to 55 percent by weight of lye; b) 0.5 to 40 percent by weight of one or more alcoholates of ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, glycerol or butyleneglycol, and c) 10 to 35 percent by weight of water. The detergent is a high alkaline detergent, useful for cleaning hard surfaces.

Abstract: The process of dishwashing in an institutional dishwashing machine by adding to the wash liquor of the dishwashing machine a low-alkali content detergent composition and adding to a washing tank of the dishwashing machine a detergency booster composition containing an enzyme. Apparatus to practice the process is also disclosed.

Abstract: A water-containing compact detergent composition having a controllably variable strength containing an aqueous lye solution, a viscosity increasing agent selected from a compound corresponding to formula I or formula II HOCH2CH(R1)OR2   (I) [HOCH2CH(R8)3-xNHx  (II) and a solid alkali metal hydroxide. The product is useful in domestic or institutional dishwashing machines.

Abstract: The invention concerns a liquid agent in suspension for use in washing-up machines. The aim of the invention is to ensure the consistency of a paste without the need to use thickeners or extenders. This is achieved by using 30 to 60% by weight of water, 15 to 70% by weight of an alkali-metal tripolyphosphate selected from sodium tripolyphosphate, used either in the anhydrous or the partly hydrated form, and potassium tripolyphosphate in the presence of 5 to 30% by weight of an alkali carrier such as an alkali-metal hydroxide, carbonate, or metasilicate, if necessary in the presence of active-chlorine carriers, complex carriers and the other usual auxiliaries.
