  • Patent number: 5682821
Abstract: The invention relates to a displacement device for the horizontal displacement of heavy loads, especially of derailed rail vehicles or the like, having a lifting cylinder and a preferably hydraulically driven displacement mechanism, which allows the position of the load raised by the lifting cylinder to be varied, the lifting cylinder (2) being borne by a slide (6) which is horizontally movable, preferably in two opposite directions, the slide being disposed displaceably on the surface of a support and the piston rod (11) of a displacement cylinder arrangement being fixedly connected to the support without the one end of the piston rod (11) being latch-locked to the support in a displacement-dependent manner.

  • Patent number: 5664500
Abstract: A shifting device for horizontal shifting of heavy loads with at least one lifting cylinder to raise the load, a support, and a preferably hydraulically actuated shifting mechanism, wherein the shifting mechanism has at least one horizontally arranged shifting cylinder which by way of a locking tie-rod is mechanically lockable to the support in different positions on the latter's surface, and which engages in the range of the lifting cylinder or its support and effects a horizontal shifting of it relative to the support characterized in that in the tie-rod casing, the locking tie-rod can be brought vertically from a rest position to a locking position and vice versa, that the locking in the locking position is effective in both directions to the support and that the shifting cylinder can be acted on by force in both directions.

  • Patent number: 5515360
Abstract: In a method for monitoring the through-connect paths in digital switching equipment, the data bytes to be through-connected are divided into at least two halves and are through-connected via parts of the through-connect means of the switching equipment that are independent of one another. At least one of the parts of the data byte is accompanied by a parity bit that relates either to the parity of the entire data byte or to the parity of respectively one of the other parts of the data byte. A reunification of the parts of the data byte and a corresponding parity check occur after the through-connection. Selection or drive errors can also be recognized, and the error location can be localized in this way with a parity check.

  • Patent number: 5505065
Abstract: A simplified latch for luggage, cases and the like has a tubular bolt with an eccentric cam engaging beneath an over-hanging tab of a base to which the lever plate is connected by a linkage when that tubular cam is rotated by insertion of a key in a key shaft within the tubular bolt and fixed axially with respect to the lever plate.

  • Patent number: 5434851
Abstract: Digital telecommunications switching system. A plurality of identical switching controllers (ASC) are connected to one another via a switching network (ICN) that sets up line connections and, as in the case of a super-massive parallel computer, that operates simultaneously on the execution of small sub-operations relating to the same connection. A portion of the control units have special processors (DSB, CTP, I/F) allocated to them. The switching network has a call throughput rate that is greater than the requirement of the actual set up of line connections.

  • Patent number: 5406826
Abstract: A so-called rescue spreader is constructed with a pair of replaceable jaws that are mirror images of one another and are operatively positioned back-to-back. Each jaw is generally a triangle having a back side and a front side, with both sides extending from a base and converging at a tip where the sides define an included angle of approximately 20.degree. to 30.degree.. Corrugations on the back side are provided to reduce slippage. The front side along its half length extending from the tip is provided with a plurality of teeth and a circular cam is provided along the other half length of the front side.

  • Patent number: 5309706
Abstract: A shackle-type connector for the rapid attachment of a round-linked chain to an external device, such as hydraulic rescue equipment. The connector includes a body having an attachment opening which is capable of removably receiving the device, to attach the connector thereon. The chain can be extended through a chain passage hole in the body of the connector. A holding slot communicates with the hole through a transition region. A securing nose defines a chain passage channel in the transition region. The chain can be drawn through the chain passage hole, and a link of the chain is then slid over the securing nose, through the chain passage channel and into the holding slot, whereby the surrounding links, which are rotated with respect to the link in the holding slot, cannot slide into the holding slot. Thus the securing nose secures the chain in the connector.

  • Patent number: 5147019
Abstract: Luggage cases which include four wheels may uncontrollably roll down inclined conveyor belts and the like. Disclosed is a brake system for selectively disabling at least some of the four wheels 12,14 on such a case 10. Preferably, this brake system is selectively operated by a pull strap or the like. In one condition, the brake system deploys a ground engaging arm which supports one end of the case 10 and prevents the wheels to be disabled from engaging the inclined surface of the conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 5060502
Abstract: A stripping device for enlarging an opening in sheet material and possibly for initially forming and then enlarging the opening. A hydraulically operated cylinder has a cylinder housing around it. A piston in the cylinder is connected to move a shoe that is guided on the cylinder housing. A clamping jaw is attached to the cylinder housing. An axially displaceable stripping jaw is connected to the piston either by a rod on the piston or that jaw is attached on the shoe and moves with the shoe. The shoe may have a plurality of spaced attachment points for the stripping jaw. There may be an extension of the piston on which the stripping jaw is carried or on which an additional sripping jaw is carried. There may be an extension of the cylinder housing on which an additional clamping jaw is carried.

  • Patent number: 4782673
Abstract: A connection device for releasably interconnecting two members (16, 18) preferably a receptacle and its lid, comprising an upper component (1, 101) which is provided with a hook (21, 102) and a lower component (2, 103) and a one- or two-armed lever (3, 104) which is articulated on said lower component and which is provided with a counterhook (15, 105). In order to avoid that the connection device springs open or disengages unintentionally, a snapper (5, 109) is pivotably attached to the end of the lever (3, 104) facing away from the counterhook (15, 105), said snapper being provided with a locking projection (13, 113) which is associated with a complementary, projecting locking member (14, 114) of the lower component (2, 103) and which is equipped with a spring (12, 115) holding the snapper (5, 109) in its locking position.

  • Patent number: 3983010
Abstract: Formic acid is isolated from mixtures containing formic acid, methyl formate, methanol and water by fractional distillation, the mixture being fed into the upper half of the distillation column and 5 to 15 theoretical plates being maintained above the feed point and 10 to 25 theoretical plates below the feed point. The formic acid is withdrawn at the bottom end of the column as an azeotrope with water, the azeotrope being in the liquid state or preferably in the vapor state.
