  • Patent number: 4492413
Abstract: A control arrangement for use in a hydraulic braking system equipped with an antiskid control device and an auxiliary energy source and including a master cylinder device which is operated in dependence on the travel of a brake pedal, includes normally open separating valves in braking conduits to the wheel brake actuating cylinders, which close during antiskid control operation, provided that auxiliary energy is available. An auxiliary supply conduit supplies the auxiliary energy to the wheel brake actuating cylinders so that the latter can be operated in a dynamic manner.

  • Patent number: 4489989
Abstract: In an auxiliary power assisted master cylinder arrangement for a vehicle brake system to generate a controlled brake pressure in associated wheel brake cylinders, there is provided a brake valve with a preceding servo travel simulator to effect a control of the wheel brake cylinders of a vehicle. In one construction of the arrangement, there is interposed between two master cylinder units a pedal-operable device including mechanical cross links connecting with the master cylinder units as well as another cross link connecting with the brake valve. The brake valve is movable into engagement with the servo travel simulator, while the pedal-operable device, under normal braking conditions, is acted upon by the controlled pressure from an auxiliary power source in opposition to the pedal pressure and includes a lock providing for interlocking of all mechanical links in the event of a failure of auxiliary power.

  • Patent number: 4477125
Abstract: Hydraulic brake systems are known which comprise antiskid control valves and a pressure fluid source where pressure fluid is fed via a valve device and an antiskid control valve to a wheel brake cylinder. The pressure fluid source includes two jointly driven pumps. The disadvantage of such a system is the constant presence of a high pump output although this high output is only rarely required. Therefore, according to the present invention, an energy saving is realized by having the suction connection of a first of two jointly driven pumps connected to a pressure fluid reservoir and the suction connection of a second of two jointly driven pumps connected to the pressure fluid outlet of an antiskid control valve.

  • Patent number: 4440454
Abstract: An antiskid control arrangement of a hydraulic vehicle braking system includes a master cylinder device and a throttling valve device arranged between the master cylinder device and the brake pedal. The throttling valve device is incorporated in a circulating circuit which includes a hydraulic pump operated exclusively during antiskid control operation. During normal braking operation without antiskid control action, the braking system operates in a static manner. During antiskid control braking operation, the drive of the hydraulic pump is energized while the throttling valve device remains closed until the dynamic pressure generated by the hydraulic pump has risen to the level to the static pressure then prevailing in the working compartments of the master cylinder device. Thereafter, the throttling valve device opens to relieve excess pressure.

  • Patent number: 4416491
Abstract: A control arrangement of a hydraulic vehicle braking system provided with antiskid control equipment includes a master cylinder device which is actuatable by a brake pedal and is provided with at least one master piston cooperating with an associated replenishment chamber. The replenishment chamber is hydraulically connected through a substantially radial bore with the secondary side of the master piston. An axially displaceable circumferentially sealed positioning piston is disposed at the secondary side of the master piston, and a piston rod of the master piston concentrically and sealingly passes through the positioning piston.

  • Patent number: 4415210
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the pressure in brake actuating cylinders incorporated in a hydraulic vehicle braking system which is supplied with auxiliary energy includes a master cylinder device having at least one master piston accommodated in a bore communicating with a replenishment chamber. A brake pedal actuated control valve device is arranged between the master cylinder device and the brake pedal and controls the supply of auxiliary energy from an auxiliary energy supply source through a hydraulic conduit to the replenishment chamber. Electromagnetically actuatable control valves are included in the braking circuit and locking of the wheels by controlling the operation of the wheel brake actuating cylinders. Furthermore, there is provided a return conduit to a hydraulic reservoir which incorporates a normally open hydraulic shutoff valve which closes when the pressure of the auxiliary energy drops below a predetermined threshold value.

  • Patent number: 4191210
Abstract: A throttling arrangement for braking systems with antiskid control disposed between the pressure-control device and the wheel braking cylinders. The throttle is so designed that a valve passageway bypassing it remains open until a preset braking pressure is reached. This arrangement ensures rapid brake application in the lower pressure range while at the same time permits a restricted increase of the braking pressure in the upper pressure range independently of the frequency of the antiskid control cycles.

  • Patent number: 4121872
Abstract: There is disclosed a combination brake-force distributor and modulator valve for an antiskid system. The normal pressure controlled piston of the brake-force distributor is at the same time used as the modulator valve of the antiskid system. In order to achieve antiskid control the piston is arranged so that is is displaced by a control piston during brake pressure reduction.

  • Patent number: 3950036
Abstract: A method and the apparatus to carry out the method produce an electric antiskid control signal for each braked wheel of a motor vehicle having an antiskid system. A reference value, approximating the vehicle speed, is produced from the output of the speed sensor of each braked wheel. The antiskid control signal for each braked wheel to correct the brake pressure therein is determined by the difference between the reference value and the momentary speed of the associated one of the braked wheels.
