  • Patent number: 4714484
Abstract: A ventilating device for a gas-carrying flowing fluid medium, includes a gas collecting chamber having an open bottom, a housing below the collecting chamber, and a tube disposed substantially horizontally in the housing below the gas collecting chamber for conducting the medium and reducing the velocity of the medium, the tube defining a space surrounding the tube in the housing, and the tube having a wall with lateral openings formed therein permitting gas bubbles to rise through the wall openings into the space and from the space into the gas collecting chamber.

  • Patent number: 4140122
Abstract: The invention relates to an implantable dosing device for the continuous release of medication in the human or animal body, comprising a medicine reservoir of variable volume and a propellant chamber of variable volume tensionally connected to the medicine reservoir, as well as flow-control means. According to the invention, an electro-osmotic control valve with an ion exchange diaphragm arranged between two porous electrodes is provided for the flow control in such a dosing device.

  • Patent number: 4140121
Abstract: The invention relates to an implantable dosing device for the continuous, controllable release of medication in the human or animal body, comprising a medicine reservoir of variable volume and a liquid chamber which is tensionally connected to the medicine reservoir and the volume of which can be varied by liquid which is transported through an ion exchange diaphragm by electro-osmosis due to an electric field between two electrodes. According to the invention, the electrodes in such an implantable dosing device are hydrogen electrodes which are connected to each other by a line for hydrogen, and means are further provided for compensating hydrogen losses.

  • Patent number: 4047894
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for removing carbon dioxide from the air in which the air is passed at a slightly elevated pressure over the surfaces of absorption elements impregnated with a carbon dioxide-absorbing liquid. The elements are corrugated plates, and the air flows transverse to the corrugations.
