  • Patent number: 7730879
Abstract: A voltage transformer circuit for supplying ignition power to a spark plug includes a transformer, a primary circuit, and a secondary circuit. The primary circuit is coupled with the secondary circuit via the transformer in order that, when a transistor switch is closed, power is transmitted from the primary circuit into the secondary circuit. The primary circuit includes a discharge path, for demagnetizing the transformer when the transistor switch is open and via which power can be retransmitted from the secondary circuit for shortening the duration of an arc discharge, and the discharge path forms a demagnetizing current with a primary side of the transformer.

  • Patent number: 5554908
Abstract: A precombustion chamber ignition device for preferably lean fuel-air mixtures and having a precombustion chamber. This precombustion chamber contains a electrode carrier extending into the precombustion chamber and on it at least one ignition electrode is attached, which has at least one ignition portion, which cooperates with a internal wall surface of the precombustion chamber in defining at least one spark gap extending substantially athwart the longitudinal axis of the precombustion chamber. In this respect the internal wall surface acts as a ground electrode. The ignition portion of the at least one ignition electrode is offset in relation to the longitudinal axis of the precombustion chamber and is arranged essentially parallel to the wall surface, which is substantially cylindrical in the spark gap portion, of the precombustion chamber close to the wall surface.

  • Patent number: 4925463
Abstract: The invention concerns an exhaust gas cleaning system for Diesel engines with a filtration device for separating soot from the exhaust gases and a regeneration device for the filtration device. The filtration device is equipped with filter tubes which are closed at one end. Thus, the exhaust gases can be fed in at the other side and penetrate the filter walls. The soot is deposited on the inner surface of the filter tubes. A burner is provided which generates the burn-off gases for the soot, suitable measures being taken to ensure that the burner gases only act on one section of the filter block at a time. Feed and discharge of the exhaust gases are selected in such a way that the cleaned exhaust gases flow around the filter tubes which are being regenerated. The direction of flow of the exhaust gases can also be reversed so that the exhaust gases first flow around the filter tubes passing through the walls into the tube interiors, and then flow out to the discharge through the openings in the tubes.

  • Patent number: 4892070
Abstract: A method and a spark plug construction to ignite very lean fuel air mixtures with the aid of an ignition chamber with separate ignition, which is arranged in the main combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, connected to the main combustion chamber 20 through transfer channels 21. Transfer channels may be provided which proceed tangentially, whereby rich fuel air admixtures or additional fuel is brought, valve timed, to the area of at least one transfer channel 21 outside the ignition chamber through a supply channel 24. During a compression stroke the very lean mixture in the main combustion chamber is pressed into the ignition chamber 16 through the transfer channels, which results in a very good intermixing with the additional fuel or the admixture due to the turbulent movement through the transfer channels 21 and the long path to the spark gap. This guarantees a very safe ignition.

  • Patent number: 4262611
Abstract: A method of and installation for incineration of solid and, if desired, liquid waste. The installation comprises a pyrolysis chamber and connected directly therebelow a combustion chamber. Exhaust gas ducts which cover the outer walls of the pyrolysis chamber either partly or completely in such a way that the covered wall surfaces of the pyrolysis chamber serve as the inner walls of the exhaust gas ducts. One or more swivelling gate elements which when moved create passages of different cross-sections through which solid and gaseous products from the pyrolysis process are discharged from the pyrolysis chamber into the combustion chamber. Combustion air supply inlets are arranged in flow direction behind the gate elements.

  • Patent number: 4156394
Abstract: Ducts for carrying off hot gas given off from the combustion chamber of an incinerator are built into the outer walls of a pyrolysis chamber located above the combustion chamber. The pyrolysis chamber has cross-sectional dimensions that are small enough to assure that heat from the gas ducts in walls completely penetrate the fill of waste in the pyrolysis chamber. Sluice gates are provided between the pyrolysis chamber and the combustion chamber on which the fill of the pyrolysis chamber rests when the gates are quiescent. The gates are moved to allow fragments of the pyrolysis products to drop into the combustion chamber or to turn over material resting on the gates.

  • Patent number: 4156393
Abstract: Sluice gate members mounted for swinging movement about a shaft offset from the center of a furnace and arranged to be moved both gradually and discontinuously are interposed between an upper pyrolysis and precombustion chamber and a lower afterburning chamber. The movement of these sluice gate members causes particles of the fire bed supported on them to drop down into the afterburning chamber, largely in the form of embers, at about the same rate as additional waste material is added to the fire bed, so as to maintain a fire bed of approximately constant size. The sluice gate members are hollow and secondary air is blown into them near the shafts on which they are mounted and flows out through holes on their bottom surfaces and in their facing tip edges and then proceeds downward to contribute to the afterburning process.
