  • Patent number: 4447376
Abstract: In the manufacture of cells, e.g. of the system Li-Al/LiCl-KCl/FeS.sub.x, the finely divided raw materials for the electrodes and for an included ceramic separator are respectively mixed individually with the electrolyte salt, as well as with a synthetic plastic which is decomposable without residue under heat. The mixtures are rolled into plates, and the plates are heated above the decomposition temperature of the plastic after assembly. The plastic is preferably a polyhydrocarbon such as polyisobutylene and is preferably introduced by means of a solvent. It makes the powder mixtures plastifiable and suitable for rolling. This makes it possible to produce ceramic separators, which are fundamentally composed only of loose particle accumulations, in the form of plates of uniform structure and strength and to handle these in the same way as electrode plates during cell assembly.

  • Patent number: 4393314
Abstract: Circuit arrangement for generating a sawtooth voltage which has a substantially nominal frequency in the absence of synchronization pulses, whereby the changeover to direct synchronizability takes place as soon as a synchronization pulse comes into coincidence with the sawtooth flyback. In this way a phase change is avoided when the changeover is made. The changeover to nominal frequency occurs as soon as a pulse fails to occur within the natural period effective in case of direct synchronization. A threshold value circuit has an intermediate value which prevents synchronization by interference pulses occurring prematurely.

  • Patent number: 4388488
Abstract: A sealing system for a cable fitting element of heat shrinkable material having a longitudinally extending opening with at least one longitudinally extending bead portion being disposed along a side of the opening and being receivable in a clamp portion forming a seal of the opening characterized by one of the clamp portions and bead portions being substantially rigid and unaffected by heat and the other of said bead and clamp portions having a permanent shape which is tightly engaged with the one portion to form a seal. To facilitate assembly, the other portion has a temporary shape and has been deformed to a temporary shape to enable easy assembly and will return to the permanent shape when the fitting element is heated to an elevated temperature for the shrinking process. In one embodiment, the clamp portion is a separate rigid member and the bead portion projects along the opening having one surface forming a sealing surface and the other surfaces engaged by the clamp.

  • Patent number: 4382117
Abstract: A separator for electrochemical high temperature cells having solid positive and negative electrodes and a molten liquid electrolyte formed through a poured accumulation of ceramic particles in which the electrolyte is mainly fixated. The porosity of the accumulation is especially high when there is added to the voids in the accumulation of particles also their own intrinsic porosity, to the degree that this consists of open pores. By using ion conducting particles, the ion penetration can be further enhanced.

  • Patent number: 4379473
Abstract: A longitudinally divided cable sleeve which is composed of a shrinkable sleeve member of a shrinkable material having a bead on each edge for engagement with a sealing bar to form a sealing system characterized by each of the beads having a non-shrinkable longitudinally extending strengthening element embedded therein and the sealing bar having a pair of side elements interconnected by a central web, said side elements projecting from the central web to form an undercut groove on each side of said web so that the sealing bar is a cross-sectional configuration of a pair of C-shaped profiles facing in opposite directions and each groove receives one bead of the sleeve member to close said cable sleeve. The sealing bar is preferably made of a material having a good heat conduction property to improve the heating of the inner sealing zones during a shrinking process. If desired, a coating of a fusible adhesive can be applied in the area of the sealing zones to increase the sealing effect.

  • Patent number: 4261453
Abstract: In a disengaging clutch, catch members are spring-biased into a position for transmitting torque between a clutch hub and a clutch sleeve. Each catch member has a wedge-shaped cam cooperating with a similarly shaped cam on a control ring. The control ring is held against the catch member by a spring and it is rotatably mounted on the clutch hub. When a predetermined torque is exceeded the control ring moves axially against the action of the spring and the catch members move radially from the torque-transmitting position to a floating position. By rotating the control ring, the catch members can be displaced from the floating position into a re-engaging position before returning to the torque-transmitting position.

  • Patent number: 4160487
Abstract: A cooling system for the power plant of a self-propelled forage harvester or field chopper, generally located in the rear thereof, comprises an air chamber communicating with the atmosphere through laterally disposed filter screens and water-cooling radiators and through pairs of conical half-shells disposed point-symmetrically about ventilating fans integral with a unidirectionally rotatable shaft extending longitudinally in an opening in the top wall of the chamber. The shells, rigid with a support manually pivotable about the power-plant-driven shaft, normally direct air flow through the fans from the air chamber but may be rotated 180.degree. by a vehicle operator to temporarily reverse the air flow and pressurize the chamber, thus forcing air out through the radiators and filter screens, cleaning them of clogging debris collected during normal operation of the vehicle. Sealer strips provided around the openings in the air chamber for minimizing leakage.

  • Patent number: 4108464
Abstract: A coupling hook has a latch element extending from a pocket through a passage to block a coupling pin in the hook opening in the locked position. The latch element is arcuate and has opposed curvilinear surfaces one of which is engageable with a fulcrum in the vicinity of an opening in the pocket through which an actuating lever of the latch element extends. The other curvilinear surface is engageable with a fulcrum in the vicinity of the passage and has a notch engageable with a bolt in the pocket in the locked position of the latch element. The latch element may be displaced to a release position either by lifting and then pulling the actuating lever or by a coupling pin engaging the curved end of the latch element to urge the latch element to a released position.

  • Patent number: 4077702
Abstract: A splicing element particularly useful for interconnecting the ends of a pair of light waveguides, such as optical fibers, in light transmitting relationship characterized by a single member, which is either molded or formed from a sheet of material, having a pair of thin wall portions with the inner surfaces inclined to each other at an acute angle to form a centering groove having a V-shape and extending longitudinally in the member for receiving and positioning the ends of the light waveguides. In one embodiment, a base of the centering groove terminates inward from each end of the member which ends have outwardly diverging surfaces to enable engaging a covering or sheathing on the waveguide. • Patent number: 4071263
Abstract: A coupling hook for lockingly engaging a coupling pin on an implement or the like has a pocket having a slot in which a pivot element is slidably received and an operating lever is pivotally mounted to the pivot element. A latch is pivotally connected to the operating lever and has one end extending through a passage toward the hook opening. The latch is pivotable and slidable upon a supporting or guiding pin such that when a coupling pin acts upon an unlocking surface on the nose-portion of the latch during a coupling operation, the latch will slide back into the pocket to permit the coupling pin to be received within the hook opening. When the coupling pin is locked within the hook opening, the pin will bear against a locking surface on the nose-portion of the latch to urge the supporting surface of the latch against an edge of the passage through which the latch extends so that a moment is produced acting upon the latch and operating lever to urge the latch into the hook opening.
