  • Patent number: 4005911
Abstract: An antiskid brake control system for an automotive vehicle of the type having for each wheel signalling apparatus to scan and sense its dynamic behavior characteristics during braking and electronic evaluation circuitry whose output signals operate electro-pneumatic modulator valves to override the operator controlled fluid brake pressure at a respective wheel when the signalling apparatus indicates an impending wheel skid. The invention features a pulse generator for each wheel of a pair of wheels that is cross-connected with the evaluation circuitry of the opposite wheel so as to effect intermittent operation of one wheel modulator valve only when the evaluation circuit of the other wheel indicates an impending wheel skid in the absence of an impending wheel skid condition of the one wheel.

  • Patent number: 3944291
Abstract: A vehicle antiskid brake control system in which a low threshold acceleration signal is formed in addition to the normal acceleration signal to withhold the reapplication of brake pressure an extended duration following a wheel skid correction to allow sufficient time for an accelerating wheel to reach substantial synchronous speed before braking is resumed when running on a roadway affording such a poor adhesion characteristic as to preclude attainment of a normal rate of wheel acceleration. On a roadway affording a good adhesion characteristic the low threshold acceleration signal is automatically prevented from influencing the antiskid system and the reapplication of brake pressure is instead influenced according to the normal acceleration signal.

  • Patent number: 3937525
Abstract: An anti-wheel skid brake control system including a control circuit for providing an impulse-like control current in accordance with which electro-magnetic control valves are operated to either release or reapply brake pressure in an intermittent fashion. The impulse-like control current displays a predetermined pulse form that may vary in duration and interval with different stages of a digital counter whose output is continuously monitored by a decoding logic network. The variable, impulse-like control current provides for a gradual change in the brake pressure during the final stage of brake release or reapplication during a wheel skid to accordingly avoid overshooting of the brake release or reapplication pressure.
