  • Patent number: 6752372
Abstract: A valve solenoid including a housing having two parts and which can be employed in areas endangered by explosion, a coil, an iron circuit, the coil and the iron circuit being arranged in the housing, and a casting compound introduced into a first part of the housing so as to embed the coil and the iron circuit whereby the casting compound prevents an explosive atmosphere from reaching live parts and simultaneously fixes the coil and iron circuitry and provides electrical insulation. The coil has connecting elements arranged in the second housing part which is configured to resist pressure in case of an internal explosion and prevents transmission of the explosion to the environment thereby providing pressure-resistant encapsulation.

  • Publication number: 20040103641
Abstract: A device for exhaust gas after treatment of motor vehicles has a pump device for supplying a solution to the exhaust gas manifold. The pump device is a metering pump having a connecting part that opens into the exhaust gas manifold. The pump device has a piston and a piezo element for actuating the piston. The pump device has a housing provided with a housing chamber. The connecting part is arranged in the housing chamber that is located at an end face of the housing. The pump device has a pressure chamber for receiving the solution. A first check valve closes off the pressure chamber relative to the connecting part. The housing of the pump device has a supply line, and the piston sucks in the solution from the supply line. The pump device has a second check valve for closing off the supply line.

  • Publication number: 20030209484
Abstract: A filter cartridge for liquid media at risk for freezing employed in fuel cell operated vehicles and internal combustion engines has a housing and a filter lid connected to the housing for closing the housing. A filter insert is inserted into the housing and provided with at least one filter element and terminal parts. The filter element is positioned between the terminal parts. The filter insert also has at least one pretensioning part for axially pretensioning the at least one filter element. At least one reinforcement part is provided that has at least one profiled section. It is inserted into the filter element and receives at least one of torque and axial forces. This prevents twisting of the filter element and improves the sealing action and the filter function.

  • Publication number: 20030209215
Abstract: A valve stroke control for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle has a control device for adjusting a valve stroke. It interacts with a camshaft and a control shaft. The control device is actuated by a hydraulic medium and has a first control element and a second control element movable relative to one another. The first control element is sleeve-shaped and the second control element is received in the first control element. A rocker lever is acted on by the camshaft. The first control element is supported on the rocker lever and the second control element is supported on the control shaft.

  • Publication number: 20030209482
Abstract: A filter unit for liquids undergoing freezing for a metering unit of an exhaust gas treatment unit has a housing having an outer member and a lid member. At least one filter insert is arranged in the housing. An elastically deformable casing part is provided that surrounds at least partially the filter insert. The elastically deformable casing part is a part of the lid member or of the outer member of the housing and is made of a thermoplastic synthetic material. When the liquid undergoes freezing and thawing in the filter unit, the elastically deformable casing part can compensate the volume changes caused by freezing and thawing.

  • Publication number: 20020081239
Abstract: A device for exhaust gas after treatment of diesel engines has one or more storage containers containing an urea solution and having a flexible wall. At least one compressed air conduit is connected to a mixing area and supplies compressed air to the mixing area. A pump conveys the urea solution from the storage container to the mixing area where a mist of the urea solution and the compressed air is formed. In another embodiment, the pump is eliminated and the urea solution is conveyed under its own weight from the storage container to the mixing area. In yet another embodiment, a pressure chamber is provided in which the storage container is arranged. A compressed air supply conduit is connected to the pressure chamber and pressurizes the exterior of the storage container.

  • Patent number: 6374784
Abstract: A valve control mechanism for intake and exhaust valves of internal combustion engines is provided. The valve control mechanism has at least one piezo element, at least one valve element operated thereby, and at least one adjustment piston. Inflow and outflow of a pressure medium to the adjustment piston is controlled by the valve element. The adjustment piston is moveable by the pressure medium, against a counter pressure, for opening an intake or exhaust valve.

  • Patent number: 6246309
Abstract: A potted device, especially a potted, explosion-protected electromagnet comprising a coil (70), preferably embedded in a potting compound (12) in a housing (10), and a ferromagnetic circuit (60), which can be connected to external lines via contact elements (20) arranged inside the housing and likewise embedded in the potting compound (12), is characterized by the fact that the contact elements (20) are arranged in a cavity in such a way as to protrude beyond the potting compound (12) that closes the housing off at its end face, the cavity being formed by a cover element that can be mounted on the housing in the area of the contact elements (20), and that a wiring duct, which is connected with the cavity, is provided in the potting compound.

  • Patent number: 6205964
Abstract: A damping device for an electromagnetic valve control of an internal combustion engine has a pressure chamber, a hydraulic supply line communicating with a first pressure chamber and supplying the pressure chamber with a hydraulic medium. A damping piston is positioned at one side of the pressure chamber and is moveable relative to the pressure chamber. A moveable mass acts on the damping piston. When the damping piston is moved in a first direction by the moveable mass from a rest position into the first pressure chamber, the hydraulic medium is initially displaced from the pressure chamber into the hydraulic supply line until the hydraulic supply line is closed off by the damping piston and a hydraulic pressure is generated in the pressure chamber to create a force acting counter to the movement of the moveable mass.

  • Patent number: 4714007
Abstract: A shuttle piston cylinder includes a piston reciprocating in axial direction within the cylinder and carrying a transmission element which transmits the movement of the piston to a consumer and extends through a longitudinal slot of the cylinder barrel. A sealing band extends within the slot with one side stationary arranged against one wall of the slot and including two spaced flexible sealing lips which seal the slot towards the inside and the exterior by lying against the other wall of the slot. The transmission element is provided with slantingly extending shanks which during passage of this element lift the sealing lips from the sealing surfaces. Through inherent prestress, the sealing lips again are arranged on the sealing surfaces after passage of the transmission element.
