  • Patent number: 9175999
Abstract: A glass-to-metal hermetic seal assembly in a sight glass assembly or a hermetic terminal assembly is disclosed and includes a glass component, an intermediate component, and an outer ring. The intermediate component is provided around the glass component. The glass component is fused to the intermediate component. The outer ring, which has a coefficient of thermal expansion that is greater than a coefficient of thermal expansion of the glass component, compresses the intermediate component against the glass component to create a hermetic compression seal.

  • Publication number: 20110083897
Abstract: A power terminal feed-through includes a housing, at least one current conducting pin and a sealing glass hermetically sealing the at least one current conducting pin to the housing. The at least one current conducting pin defines a peripheral indentation in the surface of the current conducting pin. The sealing glass fills in the peripheral indentation when fused to both the current conducting pin and housing.

  • Patent number: 7745725
Abstract: A power terminal feed-through incorporates a metallic body through which extend one or more current conducting pins that are hermetically sealed to the metallic body by a glass-to-metal seal. The metallic body includes an annular lip with a protrusion. During welding installation of the power terminal feed-through, the protrusion serves to assist in the welding process, better controlling the location and definition of the weld between the metallic body and a housing, and to focus the welding heat at the protrusion, thereby protecting the glass-to-metal seal. The glass-to-metal seal can be a single glass insert through which the current conducting pins extend, thereby reducing the pin circle diameter and the overall size of the power terminal feed-through.

  • Patent number: 6938481
Abstract: An improved lower cost sight glass and a method for producing the same is disclosed, whereby the sight glass is made by placing a transparent component in secure contact with a metallic ring. The contact may optionally be effectuated by temporarily altering the relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component, placing the transparent component into the inner space of the metallic ring, and then reversing the altered relative dimensions of the metallic ring and the transparent component. A hermetic seal is formed between the transparent component and the metallic ring is by the application of an inorganic sealing compound.
