Abstract: An endo-tracheal catheter for use in an anesthetic procedure comprises a catheter tube to be inserted into the trachea of a patient, the catheter tube having a tubular wall defining an inner lumen for guiding a gaseous flow, and a connection piece which defines a chamber in fluid connection with the catheter tube and comprising a port for connecting a detection device to the endo-tracheal catheter for detecting at least one substance in the gaseous flow flowing through the catheter tube. An insert tube is received in the inner lumen of the catheter tube for guiding the gaseous flow through the catheter tube and/or a coating covers the tubular wall at a side facing the inner lumen for guiding the gaseous flow through the catheter tube.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a mirror arrangement for a beam path in a multiple-reflection cell for measuring the absorption of light in a measuring gas. In the measuring arrangement, an entrance aperture is imaged on an exit aperture via an entrance aperture mirror, a field mirror and an exit aperture mirror. This arrangement is improved in that the astigmatism of the imaging error is considerably reduced. For this purpose, the form of the aperture mirrors is approximately defined by an ellipsoid wherein the focal point spacing is approximately equal to half the distance between the entrance aperture and the exit aperture.

Abstract: A radiation source for infrared radiation includes an area radiator and a resistance layer which are arranged on a support substrate. The heat capacity of the radiation source is to be reduced to the extent that a modulation of the intensity of the radiation source with sufficiently high frequencies is made possible. To this end it is provided that the resistance layer is disposed in a thinned region of the support substrate.

Abstract: Cheese made from milk and/or milk-by-products concentrated by membrane filtration sometimes has the disadvantage of having a mealy and/or sandy texture. This can be overcome by using selected ropy cultures of lactic acid bacteria instead of the normal non-ropy cultures used for acidifying the milk product. The effect is particularly useful in the preparation of soft cheese having a smooth texture.
