    Abstract: A method for joining components is described, in particular, for joining a rotor blade to a rotor base member when manufacturing and/or repairing an integrally bladed gas turbine rotor. The method includes the following steps: providing two components to be assembled, respectively joined to one another; providing a joining part; mutually aligning the two components to be assembled and the joining part such that the joining part is positioned as an insert between the two components to be assembled; driving the two components being assembled with the joining part being interposed therebetween in that the joining part to execute a linear, reciprocating motion in opposition to the two stationary components to be assembled in order to generate the frictional motion, further comprising exerting an upsetting force via the joining part on the joint zones between the two stationary components and the joining part, namely in a direction that extends essentially perpendicularly to the frictional motion.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a friction welding process for mounting blades of a blade carrier (1) of a flow machine as well as a shielding gas shower for supplying gas to welding surfaces. To achieve this, a plurality of longitudinally extending welding surfaces (5a) are provided on the circumference of the blade carrier (1), are oriented at a blade angle &bgr; relative to the rotation axis (R) of the blade carrier (1), and are respectively welded together with a welding surface (5b) of a blade (2). The welding temperature necessary for joining the bodies (blade carrier (1), blade (2)) is achieved by pressing together the welding surfaces (5a,b) and simultaneous oscillating relative motion (P) of the bodies (1, 2) in the welding plane (E), whereby a shielding gas (S) flows around the welding surfaces (5a,b) during the relative motion (P). The shielding gas flow S follows the contour of the blade carrier and the blade and thus serves to provide a closed shielding gas curtain for protecting the welding surface.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a friction welding process for mounting blades of a rotor for a flow machine. A plurality of oblong welding surfaces are provided at a circumferential surface of a carrier and are respectively welded to a welding surface of a blade. The welding temperature is generated by pressing the welding surfaces together and by an oscillating relative motion between the blade and the carrier in the welding plane. At least the blade or the carrier is additionally heated to a temperature lying below the welding temperature in the region of the welding surface.
