  • Patent number: 4259265
Abstract: A carburetor for internal combustion engines with a fuel-carrying main injection system discharging upstream from an arbitrarily actuated main throttle into the intake duct. An idling mixture duct discharges downstream of this main throttle via an arbitrarily adjustable throttle cross section. From the idling mixture duct, a transition opening leads to the intake duct whose exit cross section upon opening the main throttle away from the idling position shifts from the intake duct section upstream of the main throttle to the downstream section. An auxiliary duct for adding further mixture connects the idling duct with the exit opening. The cross section of the auxiliary duct is regulated by a screw and the auxiliary duct has a ball retaining valve.

  • Patent number: 4251471
Abstract: A carburetor for internal combustion engines with an acceleration pump whose pump chamber is connected to the float chamber by a suction duct having a suction valve. The pump chamber also is connected to the intake line section upstream of the throttle by a delivery duct having a pressure valve and a calibrated injection opening. The acceleration pump has a displacement member which is actuated via a linkage by a lever depending on the throttle position. The pump chamber has a flow duct, leading to the float chamber and having a cross section adjustable by means of a screw, and a second adjustable flow duct whose inlet has a valve actuated by the throttle position. The valve may have a spring which presses a closure member, held in a diaphragm, against the inlet overcoming the force of the fuel pressure. This spring also presses a plunger against a second lever arm which actuates the acceleration pump.

  • Patent number: 4058978
Abstract: The present invention relates to a regulating arrangement for metering a supplementary quantity of air for improving the combustion in internal combustion engines or afterburning of exhaust gases. The amount of air entering the regulating arrangement is metered as a function of the engine speed by means of an air pump driven by the engine. Part of the air entering the regulating arrangement is removed and returned depending on predetermined parameters. An auxiliary device responds to an emergency signal for the immediate shutoff of the fuel or fuel-air mixture used in the combustion. The emergency signal is transmitted by means monitoring the fuel-air ratio within substantially narrow tolerance limits of a predetermined threshold value.
