  • Publication number: 20060049760
Abstract: A metal halide lamp with ceramic discharge vessel (4), the discharge vessel having two ends (6) that are sealed with stoppers, and an electrically conducting lead-through (9) being guided through these stoppers (12), there being fastened on the lead-through an electrode (15) with a stem (16) that projects into the interior of the discharge vessel, lead-through and electrode together being designated as an electrode system. The lead-through being a niobium pin, and the electrode stem (16) consisting of two pins, a pin made from tungsten being arranged situated on the inside on the discharge side, and a pin made from molybdenum being arranged on the outside on the discharge side and having a length of 3 to 8 mm.

  • Publication number: 20040135511
Abstract: A metal halide lamp having a ceramic discharge vessel with two ends which are closed off by stoppers, and an electrically conductive leadthrough guided through this stopper. An electrode with a shank secured to the leadthrough, which electrode projects into the interior of the discharge vessel. The leadthrough and electrode referred to as an electrode system, comprises two components, which are designed as pins of different diameter, the larger component being a niobium pin and the smaller component, which adjoins it on the inner, discharge side, being a pin made from molybdenum or tungsten which is fitted in a bore in the niobium pin. The ratio of the diameter of the smaller component to that of the Nb pin is between 30 and 65%, and the pin which has been fitted in is secured in the bore by a mechanical pressing operation.

  • Patent number: 6469428
Abstract: A lamp bulb (1) made from glass is sealed at one end by a pinch (2). A base (5) is fastened on the pinch (2) by means of a metal spring (6). The base (5) has a holder (7) loosely adapted to the pinch (2). The metal spring (6; 26) is bent in a U-shaped fashion and comprises a base part (11) and two limbs (12, 13) which embrace the pinch, the fastening of the base (5) being accomplished by virtue of the fact that one limb (12) is aligned essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis, but simultaneously has a transverse extent accessible to spring forces, the transverse extent of this limb being stressed by the holder (7) of the base.
