  • Patent number: 9063215
Abstract: A method for determining a time difference between a first and a second time of arrival of the signal is described, the method including: receiving a first representation of the signal at the first time of arrival; receiving a second representation of the signal at the second time of arrival; correlating at least a first time-domain representation of the signal and a second time-domain representation of the signal to obtain a first time difference information; evaluating a phase difference relation between a first frequency-domain representation of the signal and a second frequency-domain representation of the signal to obtain a second time difference information; and determining the time difference between the first and the second time of arrival of the signal based on the first and the second time difference information, or based on a time difference information derived from the first time difference information and the second time difference information.

  • Patent number: 8787927
Abstract: An apparatus for frequency-selective occupancy detection of a channel in a frequency band includes a detector for detecting a receive spectrum in the frequency band, a provider for providing node frequencies, a determiner for determining node level values, a determiner for determining the threshold curve and a comparer. The provider provides the node frequencies for a threshold curve with respect to a noise floor in the frequency band. The determiner determines the node level values at the node frequencies based on receive level values of the receive spectrum. The determiner determines the threshold curve in the frequency band based on the provided node frequencies and the node level values at the node frequencies. The comparer compares a current power of the receive level values in the channel with a reference power in the channel predetermined by the threshold curve to detect occupancy or non-occupancy of the channel depending on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 8670506
Abstract: An apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention for providing a reduced representation in a frequency-domain, based on a time-based RF signal, has a time-frequency converter adapted to transform the time-domain RF signal to obtain a frequency-domain representation based on the time-domain signal and an entropy encoder adapted to obtain the reduced representation based on the frequency-domain representation by entropy encoding.

  • Publication number: 20100027625
Abstract: An apparatus for encoding a sequence of samples of an audio signal, with each sample within the sequence having an original position, includes a sorter for sorting the samples depending on their sizes, in order to obtain a sorted sequence of samples, with each sample having a sorting position within the sorted sequence. Furthermore, the apparatus has an encoder for encoding the sorted samples and information on a relation between the original and sorting positions of the samples.

  • Patent number: 6726553
Abstract: A motor-driven manual grinder (10), in particular an eccentric-plate grinder, has a work spindle (13) supported in the tool housing (11) and also has a grinding plate unit (15) that is driven and rotatable by the work spindle to execute an eccentric motion. The manual grinder (10) further has an annular first rolling face (28), extending together with the grinding plate unit (15) all the way around the eccentric axis (19), and an annular second rolling face (30), associated with the first, whose center axis extends coaxially to the central axis (17) of the work spindle (13), and on which the first rolling face (28) can roll. The second rolling face (30) is supported rotatably about its center axis. It is assigned a braking device (35), by means of which a rotation of the second rolling face (30) about its center axis can be selectively prevented for the forced-drive mode or enabled for the free-wheeling mode.
