  • Patent number: 6901350
Abstract: A method and a device for monitoring the functioning of a system by checking input signals, output signals and at least one function unit of the system. The system includes at least one lower-level subsystem and/or is a component of a higher-level system. The system includes components implemented in the form of hardware, including sensors, actuators and/or function computers. An intended function of the system is subdivided hierarchically as a function of the complexity of the function into at least one subsystem function which is in turn subdivided into at least one function unit, and the method is structured hierarchically into multiple monitoring layers.

  • Patent number: 6856940
Abstract: A method of monitoring the functioning of a system by checking input signals, output signals, and functions of the system is provided. The system may have lower-level subsystems or may be a component of a higher-level system. The system has hardware components, including sensors, actuators, and/or function computers. A flexible structure, applicable to various systems to be monitored, is provided for the monitoring method. This monitoring method is structured into multiple decentralized monitoring functions provided in the individual functions of the system for monitoring the functioning of the individual functions, and structured into at least one higher-level, functions-overreaching monitoring instance for coordinating the monitoring functions.

The system includes at least one lower-level subsystem and/or is a component of a higher-level system. The system includes components implemented in the form of hardware, including sensors, actuators and/or function computers. To permit easier unambiguous allocation of any faults occurring in the system to the various function units of the system, an intended function of the system is subdivided hierarchically as a function of the complexity of the function into at least one subsystem function which is in turn subdivided into at least one function unit, and the method is structured hierarchically into multiple monitoring layers.

  • Patent number: 6205976
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling an operating variable of a motor vehicle wherein the controller has at least one changeable parameter. This parameter of the controller is changed in dependence upon the operating range of the actuator, which is driven by the controller, and/or the magnitude of the change of the desired value.

  • Patent number: 6062198
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for operating an internal combustion engine wherein, after an exchange of an electrically-actuable adjusting device and/or after an original start, no injection pulses are outputted for a predetermined time and the start of the engine is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5235950
Abstract: A system is suggested for the electronic open-loop control and/or closed-loop control of the power of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle in which the open-loop control or closed-loop control of the power is dependent on a parameter which represents the driver's wish, the open-loop control or closed-loop control being carried out in pregiven operating conditions independently of this parameter and occurring in these operating conditions, which are characterized by a reduction or an increase of the fuel supply due to an active drive slip control or engine drag torque control. For a faster response of the control system, the preset values which support the reduction or increase requirement, are dynamically amplified in their effect.

  • Patent number: 5233958
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of an operating variable of an internal combustion engine. The arrangement includes an electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit which is influenced with an actuable positioning component operating on the operating value in dependence upon at least one operating variable. This arrangement includes at least one safety means which changes its signal condition in predetermined positions of the actuator. Devices are included for precisely determining and detecting the position of the signal condition change. These devices control the actuator in predetermined operating conditions independently of the operating variable.
