Abstract: A binder comprising a block polymer of blocks A and B and at least one of the blocks of C and D or E and F. The blocks are formed from: A monocarboxylic acids having 15 to 50 carbon atoms, B polyisocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups, C polycarboxylic acids having at least two carboxyl and/or anhydride groups, D polyisocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups, E polyalcohols having at least two hydroxyl groups, and F polyisocyanates having at least two isocyanate groups. The composition of the block polymer has the following composition: (f+g)/h=0.5 to 1.0, i/(h−f−g)=2.0 to 25 and a/(c+e)=0.1 to 1.0, where a, c and e=total moles of A, C and E; f=total equivalents of hydroxyl groups, g=total equivalents of carboxyl and anhydride groups, h=total equivalents of isocyanate groups and I=total moles of A to F.

Abstract: A process and device for the preparation of coatings on wires or fiber-like materials by mixing one or more polymers which contain carboxyl and/or amide groups (A) and with at least two carboxyl and/or amide groups, a hydroxyl number of less than 130 and a number average molecular weight of 200 to 5000, in the liquid state, with one or more polyisocyanates (B) with at least two free isocyanate groups in the molecule and a number average molecular weight of 200 to 3000, in the liquid state, and optionally one or more other components (C) which are normally present in lacquers, in the liquid state, continuously immediately before application in a ratio such that 0.5 to 5.0 isocyanate groups are allotted to each carboxyl group or that 0.02 to 2.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of coatings on wires or fiber-like materials, in which hydroxyl-containing polymers having a number-average molecular weight of 250 to 1,000, a hydroxyl number of 130 to 750 and an acid number of 0 to 150 are mixed in the liquid state with polyisocyanates having a number-average molecular weight of 200 to 2,000 in the liquid state immediately before application, so that 0.5 to 1.5 isocyanate groups are present for each hydroxyl and carboxyl group, and are fed to a wire or fiber-like material which is in a continuous forward movement in an amount which corresponds to that immediately consumed, and a device suitable for the process and comprising capillary tubes through which the mixture is fed to the wire or fiber-like material.

Abstract: This invention relates to a process and composition for the production of highly heat-resistant insulating coatings on electrical conductors by coating the conductors with solutions containing catalysts and, levelling agents of thermosetting amide and/or imide-modified ester resins of polyhydric alcohols, polybasic carboxylic acids containing carboxyl groups attached to aromatic rings, optionally in admixture with aliphatic carboxylic acids and, optionally, their anhydrides and/or esters, and compounds containing amino groups, and heating the coated conductors to object temperatures of 150.degree.-400.degree. C.
