  • Publication number: 20040231391
Abstract: A method for extruding a profile or a similar billet from a bolt or bar that is guided in a recipient bore of a recipient and that is extruded by an extrusion die through a shaping section of a shaping tool. Once the front face of the bar is placed on the rear surface of a preceding bar, air or similar flowing agents present on the surfaces are discharged during pressure build-up in an approximately radial relation together with the contaminations that are present in detached form on the transversal bur surface. During pressure build-up, parts of the transversal burs are radially displaced; the displaced parts of the traversal bur surface are discharged on the periphery in an approximately radial relation before the bar enters the shaping tool. To achieve this, a welding chamber or pre-chamber is disposed in the direction of extrusion (x) in a gap that can be adjusted between the recipient and the shaping tool.

  • Patent number: 6012627
Abstract: A composite section features a base of light-weight metallic material as section component and at least one further profiled section component, in particular a profiled strip of another metallic material which is joined metallically as a surface layer to the base section during an extrusion process. Projecting out of the inner-lying face of the profiled strip and directed at the base is at least one projection and/or an additional element which are/is embedded in the base. Each additional element may delimit an undercut space which is filled in an interlocking manner by metallic material of the base.

  • Patent number: 5967271
Abstract: A composite section (10) features a base (12) of light-weight metallic material as section component and at least one further profiled section component, in particular a profiled strip (18) of another metallic material which is joined metallically as a surface layer to the base section during an extrusion process. Projecting out of the inner-lying face (21) of the profiled strip (18) and directed at the base (12) is at least one projection and/or an additional element (23) which are/is embedded in the base (12). Each additional element (23) may delimit an undercut space which is filled in an interlocking manner by metallic material of the base (12).

  • Patent number: 5836190
Abstract: A process for extruding a section or the like body from an ingot is such that an ingot is introduced into a bore of a container and, by means of an extrusion stem, is fed in the direction of extrusion into a shape-giving opening in a die. Before the ingot enters the die opening, it is pushed out of the container by an amount corresponding to the width (t) of a collar whereupon a disk-shaped slice is sheared off the free end of the ingot and removed. The free end of the ingot is then pushed onto the die opening. In order to carry out this process a shearing tool is provided after the end of the container facing the die and a moveable shearing blade positioned over that entrance to the container boreThe disk-shaped slice should preferably be sheared away together with a residual butt of the previously extruded ingot which faces away from the die. To that end a shearing tool with two shearing blades is provided and can be moved radially with respect to the longitudinal axis (A) of the container bore.
