  • Patent number: 4581786
Abstract: A windshield-wiper assembly has a single base normally pivotal about a base axis generally perpendicular to a windshield and a generally one-piece inner arm support pivotal on the base about an inner axis offset from and transverse to the base axis and generally parallel to the windshield. This inner arm support has an outer end extending radially generally away from both axes and a single spring is engaged offset from the inner axis between the inner arm support and base and urges the inner arm support rotationally in one direction on the base. A pair of similar outer arm bars extend radially of the inner axis from the outer end and have relative to the inner axis respective inner ends fixed in the one-piece inner arm support and outer ends offset generally parallel to the inner axis from each other. Respective wiper blades carried on the outer ends of the arm bars are pivotal thereon about outer axes generally parallel to the inner axis. Normally the spring urges the blades against the windshield.

  • Patent number: 4179767
Abstract: A wiping arrangement for wiping a vehicle window has a wiper arm having a hook-shaped end part which bounds a gap, a wiping blade, and a connecting element for connecting the wiping blade with the wiper arm in response to sliding entry of the connecting element into the gap. The connecting element has two projecting portions which are biased apart from one another and toward sections of the wiper arm. One of the projecting portions of the connecting element has an engaging formation which engages with an engaging formation arranged in one of the arm sections of the wiper arm so as to provide the above-mentioned connection. The one projecting portion of the connecting element is provided with means for urging this portion apart from the other projecting portion so that the engaging formations become disengaged from one another and thereby the wiping blade can be removed from the wiper arm. The urging means extends outwardly beyond a face of the wiper arm which faces away from the vehicle window.

  • Patent number: 4179766
Abstract: A wiping arrangement for wiping a vehicle window has a wiper arm having a free bifurcated end portion which defines a gap extending lengthwise of the arm, a wiping blade, an element for connecting the wiping blade with the wiper arm in response to sliding entry of the element into the gap, and an element for disconnecting the wiping blade from the wiper arm to permit its separation therefrom. The connecting element has two projecting sections which are biased apart from one another and toward prong sections of the wiper arm. One of the projecting sections of the connecting element has an engaging formation which engages this an engaging formation of one of the prong sections of the wiper arm. Thereby the connecting element and the wiping blade secured thereto become connected with the wiper arm. The disconnecting element includes a handle provided on one projecting portion of the connecting element and extending outwardly beyond the prong sections of the wiper arm.
