Abstract: In an anti-skid chain with an inner retaining device (1) formed by a resilient steel hoop, a tensioning strand (6) bridging end parts (4, 5) of the steel hoop is used for tensioning and is guided over the tread of the tire to the outer retaining device (3). The deflection device (13), which deflects the tensioning strand (6) out of the region of the inner retaining device (1) to the tread, is held at a distance from the end parts (4, 5) of the inner retaining device (1) by movable connecting elements, especially chain links.

Abstract: In a tire chain comprising a running network (3) with steel links between chain strand portions of the running network and the tread of the tire supporting members (4) provided with guide hollows (5) are disposed. By varying the state of at least one lateral retaining strand (1 or 2) of the running network (3) it is possible for the purpose of varying the operating behavior of the tire chain to vary the position of the supported chain strands transversely to the guide hollows (5) in a way that enables the chain strands to project more or less over the outer surfaces of the supporting members (4).

Abstract: In a tire chain comprising supporting members (1) disposed on the tread surface a retaining network (4) for the supporting members (1) is used which comprises transversely extending network parts (3) connecting lateral strands (6) and passing through passage apertures (2) in the supporting members (1). To prevent tilting of the supporting members (1) about their longitudinal axis the transversely extending network parts (3) are joined together in the region of the tire tread by connecting strands (11) which form holding-down means for the longitudinal edges of the supporting members (1).
