    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a packed bale of highly compacted filter tow material. A compressed filter tow bale is first provided in cuboid shape in a baler. Then the compressed filter tow bale is packaged, having an air-tight packaging sleeve fully enclosing the compressed filter tow bale. According to the invention, the packaging sleeve is applied to the compressed filter tow bales such that at least 80%, preferably at least 90% and more preferably at least 95%, of the packaging sleeve is directly adjacent to the highly compacted filter tow material and touches, or is at least spaced less than 15 mm from, the highly compacted filter tow material.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a packed, highly compressed cuboid-shaped filter tow bale, the top side and bottom side of which are free from noisome curvatures or constructions. A method for producing the bale comprises the following: (a) filter tow is supplied in a compressed form: (b) the compressed filter tow is enveloped in a wrapping; (c) the wrapping is closed in an airtight manner; and (d) the wrapped bale is relieved of the load. The wrapping of such a bale is largely prevented from bursting as a result of the prevailing internal pressure.

The side parts (2, 3) and (5, 6) of the groups (A),(B) are foldable toward the outside away from the collecting container (20) so that the collecting container (20) can be removed from the apparatus (10) laterally or at the front face.
