    Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing alkyltetrahydroanthrahydroquinones in a solvent system suitable for the production of hydrogen peroxide. The resulting alkyltetrahydroanthrahydroquinone solutions can be used directly as working solutions for preparing H.sub.2 O.sub.2 by the anthraquinone process. It is also possible, if desired, to isolate the alkyltetrahydroanthrahydroquinones from the solution, or to oxidize the alkyltetrahydroanthrahydroquinones with an oxygen-containing gas to the corresponding alkyltetrahydroanthraquinones, which can then be isolated.
