Abstract: The aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic hair treatment composition contains:A) 0.1 to 10 percent by weight polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinylpyrrolidone-vinyl acetate-copolymer;B) 0.1 to 9 percent by weight of at least one amphoteric surfactant, preferably a fatty acid amidoalkylbetaine or a fatty acid amidoalkylsulfobetaine;C) 0.1 to 5 percent by weight of at least one cationic surfactant, advantageously cetyltrimethylammonium chloride or bromide; andD) 0.1 to 2.0 percent by weight of at least one organic acid, preferably tartaric acid, glyoxalic acid, lactic acid or formic acid.

Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is a composition and a process for improving the condition of hair are improved based on a synergistic combination of glycine with a physiologically compatible aliphatic organic acid which is free of amino groups, particularly citric acid, and a wax and/or oil component, particularly a mixture of petrolatum and fatty alcohols.The combination of glycine, physiologically compatible aliphatic organic acid which is free of amino groups, and wax and/or oil components, which combination has a hair conditioning action, is completely harmless physiologically and can also be used together with anionic surfactants. The compositions, according to the invention, act on the hair so as to disentangle it, smooth the hair surface and improve the feel as well as the ability of the hair to be combed.

Abstract: New alkyl-hydroxypropyl-chitosans of the formula IHO[C.sub.6 H.sub.11-m-q NO.sub.4 (R.sup.1).sub.m (R.sup.2).sub.n (R.sup.3).sub.q ].sub.p H (I)(m=0-0.6; n=0.5-10; q=0.5-4; p=50-5000; R.sup.1 =acetyl; ##STR1## R.sup.3 =C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl) and their salts with organic or inorganic acids. The invention is directed, in addition, to a process for producing the chitosan derivatives of the formula I, as well as cosmetic compositions for the treatment of hair or skin, particularly compositions for strengthening hair, comprising a content of these chitosan derivatives. The described alkyl-hydroxypropyl-chitosans are distinguished by their favorable solubility in organic solvents. Therefore, they can also be used, for example, in anhydrous hairsprays.

Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is an agent and a method for improving the condition of hair on the basis of a combination of 0.1 to 25.0% by weight of trimethyl ammonia acetate betaine of the formula (CH.sub.3).sub.3 N.sup..sym. --CH.sub.2 --COO.sup..crclbar. and 0.1 to 10.0% by weight of at least one aliphatic organic acid as a hair conditioning component. Preferred forms of preparations are a hair conditioning rinse, a hair conditioning emulsion, a hair treatment kit, or a hair strengthener.

Abstract: Oxidative dyeing of human hair upon the basis of a carrier and a dye mixture dissolved therein, whereby the carrier is made from(1) 16 to 30% by weight of a mixture of(a) 0.2-5.0% by weight of at least one physiologically harmless water soluble inorganic salt,(b) 1.4-5.0% by weight sodium lauryl alcohol diglycol ether sulfate,(c) 0.5-6.0% by weight coconut oil acid diethanol amide,(d) 4.0-10.0% by weight of a mixture consisting of60 to 80 parts by weight cetyl stearyl alcohol10 to 30 parts by weight glycerin-mono-di-stearate and0 to 20 parts by weight wool wax alcohol as well as(e) 0.1-2.0% by weight quaternized homopolymerisate of dimethyl amino ethyl methacrylate,(2) 56 to 83% by weight of water,(3) 0.1 to 5.0% by weight ammonia,(4) 0 to 5% by weight aliphatic alcohol,(5) 0 to 1% by weight perfume oil and(6) 0 to 0.

Abstract: Process for a selective permanent shaping of the regrowth of hair, whereby the hair is at first treated with a liquid aqueous pretreatment substance, is rolled onto rollers, is treated with a aqueous reducing permanent shaping substance, rinsing, fixing it oxidatively and further treating it in a customaty manner, characterized in that the pretreatment and the permanent shaping substance is so selected that they form a separating layer at their contact face (uppermost layers of the rolled up hair) during contact, thus making an admixture of the pretreatment substance with the permanent substance more difficult or prevent it. Suitable combinations are for example: Pre=treatment substance containing either a high polymeric polycarboxylic acid polymer, whereby at least 25% Mol of these polymers consists of a free carboxylic acid group, or a water soluble aluminum salt in combination with an alkalic permanent shaping substance.
