  • Patent number: 7048396
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for the polarization of light, preferably for use in projectors. It comprises at least one illumination source, an integrator with a structural component part which is arranged in the light entrance plane, has the entrance opening, and is constructed so as to be reflecting in the direction of the interior of the integrator, as well as components for the polarization and reflection of partial beams of the light bundle entering the integrator. According to the invention, at least two reflecting polarizers are arranged in the light exit plane of the integrator in the same angular position relative to the axis of the integrator. The polarizers have polarization directions that are rotated relative to one another. Phase plates which adapt the polarizers with non-transmitted polarization directions to the polarizers with transmitted polarization directions are provided outside of the integrator.

  • Patent number: 6860605
Abstract: An arrangement for projecting a multi-color image, including at least two image-generating elements which enable generation of one partial color image each of the multi-color image, and a color combiner which superimposes the light partial beam paths and emits it as a common beam. The arrangement further includes projection optics. The image scales being different for the partial color images, one optical device each is arranged in one or more of the partial beam paths of the partial color images whose image scales differ and each optical device is configured such that, due to the change in the image scale of the corresponding partial color image effected by it, the image scale of the partial color image corresponds to a predetermined, common image scale.

  • Patent number: 4427150
Abstract: A motor vehicle provided with a combustion engine, an alternator, a battery and a heating installation for the passenger cabin has a heating unit which comprises a heating circuit and a heating exchanger fed by the heating liquid for the heating of air. The alternator is liquid cooled and has a rotor and chambers adapted to receive cooling liquid and is switchable into the heating circuit; and the alternator has filed coils adapted to be short circuited. In this fashion the alternator is switchable as an eddy current brake. Furthermore, the alternator may be a liquid cooled alternator asynchronous generator, whereby its chambers which are cooled by the cooling liquid are switched to the heating circuit.

  • Patent number: 4231755
Abstract: A process for purifying solid substances by melting and subsequent resoliication, wherein a melted bath of the solid substance is formed, a roller is placed in the bath so that a first portion of its surface is in contact with the melted substance, and the surface of the roller is cooled to a temperature below the melting point of the solid substance. The cooled roller is rotated in the melted substance to collect a solidified film of the substance on the roller surface. A second portion of the roller surface is passed through a heated zone at a temperature above the melting point of the solid substance, so that the solidified film is remelted and collected in an appliance.

  • Patent number: 4210486
Abstract: A process for determining the effective doping agent content of hydrogen the production of semiconductors which comprises zone drawing a silicon rod of highest purity and having a known specific resistance, in the presence of hydrogen to be tested, subsequently redetermining the specific resistance of the silicon rod, and computing the concentration of the doping agent in the hydrogen used from the known relationship between the specific resistance and the amount of doping agent. By stepwise determination of the resistance along the longitudinal axis of the rod, the amount of doping agent built into the rod at different levels can thus be determined.

  • Patent number: 4141764
Abstract: Process for the manufacture of silicon of large surface area bonded to a substrate, which comprises depositing silicon to a thickness of from 30 to 500 .mu.m onto panel-shaped substrates of glassy carbon (a glass-like carbon obtained by carbonizing a spatially cross-linked synthetic resin) that are heated by direct passage of an electric current to temperatures above the melting point of silicon, and thereafter cooling the silicon to a temperature below its melting point in the direction from its free surface toward the substrate. The invention also comprises the silicon panels so made which are especially useful in the manufacture of solar cells.

  • Patent number: 4132763
Abstract: An improved process for the production of pure, elemental semiconductor material, especially silicon, of the type wherein the semiconductor material is produced by decomposition from the gaseous phase, is provided, which includes the initial step of maintaining a melt of the semiconductor material at a temperature of up to a maximum of 200.degree. C above the melting point of the material. Thereafter, at least a gaseous, decomposable compound of the semiconductor material is introduced into the melt, under a pressure of about 0.01 to 30 bar, to produce a pure, elemental semiconductor material in liquid form.
