    Abstract: A scheduling apparatus and method are provided for scheduling diagnostic devices such as computer tomography, magnetic resonance and positron emission tomography imaging systems. Information about previously performed diagnostic activities of a plurality of diagnostic devices is stored in a database. When scheduling a further diagnostic activity, information about previously performed diagnostic activities are analyzed in order to estimate the required time for a desired. In this way, the utilization of expensive diagnostic devices can be optimized.
