  • Patent number: 5379617
Abstract: An anti-theft device surrounds the plastic housing for the ignition switch, the protruding plastic lock barrel and the exposed end of the lock cylinder with hardened steel. The device consists of (i) a hardened steel bracket which attaches directly to the housing and the steering column with screws, (ii) a cup-like cover which attaches to the bracket, covering the housing, the screws and the protruding lock barrel with hardened steel, and (iii) a torque-sensitive end cap which is rotateably supported by the cover. The torque-sensitive cap consists of an outer sleeve and a center disk press fit into the sleeve. The disk includes a key slot for access to the lock cylinder. The disk is the same size as an opening in the cover, which accommodates key access to the lock cylinder. The sleeve is rigid and larger in diameter than the opening. An indentation in the cap sleeve engages a boss on the lock cylinder to align the slot in the disk with the lock cylinder keyhole and operate the lock.

  • Patent number: 5344314
Abstract: The pressure head needed to drive combustion air into the combustion region (46) of a heat gun 930) is imparted to the air by a compressor blades (36) driven by a turbine whose blades (32) are interposed in the fuel conduit that leads to the combustion region (46). The expansion of the gaseous fuel, which is obtained from a pressurized source, provides the power to impose the necessary pressure head. The turbine-compressor combination is efficient enough that it can extract from the fuel flow enough power to maintain the necessary pressure head not only on the combustion gas (A.sub.1), which flows through vents (44) in a manifold (43), but also on a larger volume of air (A.sub.2) delivered downstream of the combustion region (46) to dilute the combustion products and thereby cool them to the desired heat-gun output temperature.

  • Patent number: 5303971
Abstract: A tailgate release handle security device for attachment to a tailgate incorporates a cover comprising a metal plate and an integral inwardly extending skirt having a rim which bears against an outer panel of a tailgate. A pair of hooks, attached to the skirt, extend outward through a pair of apertures in the tailgate release handle recess and bear against the back of the tailgate outer panel. A cylindrical lock, mounted in the plate, has a locking dog which presses outwardly against the upper edge of the back of a tailgate release handle when the security device is attached to the tailgate.

  • Patent number: 5197315
Abstract: The automobile anti-theft device consists of a hardened steel collar which encircles the steering column of the automobile and includes two rotatably attached sections which are attached to each other by sliding one end of a first section underneath an end of the second section. The first section has a projection on the end which fits into a radially extending recess on the underside of the second section and thus acts as a pivot point about which the first section rotates relative to the second section. The first section consists of an arcuate body, which is shaped to cover a portion of the side of the steering column, and a projection which extends radially out from the arcuate body. When this section is in place on the steering column, the projection is thus approximately perpendicular to the steering column. The second section consists of an arcuate body which is shaped to cover a portion of the steering column which is contiguous with and on the same side as the portion covered by the first section.

  • Patent number: 4616123
Abstract: A shrink oven which limits loss of heated air by controlled movements of the load and the door at the opening through which the load enters or leaves the oven. By automatically stopping the load in a flow-blocking relationship to the opening as it approaches and leaves the opening, and moving the door only when the load is in such a flow-blocking relationship, loss of heated air can be substantially reduced. Preferably further arrangements enable the air volume of the oven to be maintained constant as heated loads are removed and new loads are introduced. In an oven in which loads are introduced through a side entry door, move on a conveyor through the oven, and exit through another door, exiting and entry loads are synchronized in spacing and movement so that the rate of load displacment out of the oven at the exit is compensated by the rate of load displacement into the oven at the entry. Special arrangements prevent hot air loss around the sides of the oven during the exit and introduction phases.

  • Patent number: 4559795
Abstract: An improved protective device for an ignition lock cylinder of a motorized vehicle comprising an armored cap arranged axially with and covering the cylinder end, the cylinder and cap adapted for mutual rotation about the cylinder axis to activate the ignition when a mating key is inserted through the cap to unlock the cylinder, the cap adapted to be rotated by hand to rotate the cylinder. The improvement comprises a torque-sensitive coupling adapted to be disposed in coupling relationship between the lock cylinder and cap. The coupling is constructed and arranged to transmit torque applied to the cap cylinder of a value below a predetermined maximum value selected to exceed normal torque applied to an unlocked cylinder by hand action of a vehicle operator. The maximum torque value is less than that needed to force rotation of the cylinder when the cylinder is still locked. The coupling is also adapted to disengage between the cap and cylinder when torque above the predetermined maximum value is applied.

  • Patent number: 4538363
Abstract: A shrink oven whose air volume is maintained constant as heated loads are removed and new loads are introduced, to prevent loss of heat and to improve performance. In an oven in which loads are introduced through an entry opening, move through the oven, and exit through another opening, exiting and entering loads are moved so that the rate of load displacement out of the oven at the exit is compensated by the rate of load displacement into the oven at the entry. Special arrangements prevent hot air loss around the sides of the load during the exit and introduction phases. These include close-lying passage walls above and on both sides of the openings, for limiting the air conductance of the gaps about the loads, stacking adjacent loads close together at entry and exit to minimize air leak gaps between the loads, and close positioning of the loads next to doors during opening and closing of doors.
