  • Publication number: 20230362908
Abstract: Although not part of the telecommunications system 400 itself, also shown in FIG. 4 are some other devices which are operable to wirelessly communicate with one another and which are operating within the radio environment of the telecommunications system 400. In particular, there is a pair of wireless access devices 416 communicating with one another via radio link 418 operating in accordance with a Wi-Fi standard and a pair of Bluetooth devices 420 communicating with one another via radio link 422 operating in accordance with a Bluetooth standard. These other devices represent a potential source of radio interference for the telecommunications system 400. It will be appreciated that in practice there will typically be many more such devices operating in the radio environment of the wireless telecommunications system 400, and only two pairs of devices 416, 420 are shown in FIG. 4 for simplicity.

  • Patent number: 11706745
Abstract: A method of operating a terminal device and network infrastructure equipment in a wireless telecommunications system for communicating on a primary cell supporting a primary component carrier on radio resources within a first frequency band and a secondary cell supporting a secondary component carrier on radio resources within a second frequency band. The infrastructure equipment establishes plural configuration settings for the secondary carrier based on measurements of radio usage in the second frequency band which are conveyed to the terminal device. The terminal device makes channel quality measurements for the secondary component carrier according to the different configuration settings and reports these to the infrastructure equipment.

  • Publication number: 20220295501
Abstract: A method of operating a terminal device and a base station in a wireless telecommunications system to communicate with one another using a primary component carrier operating on radio resources within a first frequency band and a secondary component carrier operating on radio resources within a second frequency band. The terminal device makes measurements of radio usage in the second frequency band, e.g. by other devices which are not part of the wireless telecommunications system but which can also use radio resources within the second frequency band. The terminal device transmits an indication of the measurements to the base station, and on the basis if this the base station establishes a configuration setting for the secondary component carrier, for example in terms of frequency resources to use for the secondary component carrier.

  • Patent number: 10798711
Abstract: A mobile communications network includes one or more network elements providing a wireless access interface for communications devices. The wireless access interface provides plural communications resource elements across a host frequency range of a host carrier. First and second sections of communications resources within respective first and second frequency ranges for preferable allocation to reduced capability devices form respective first and second virtual carriers. Each of the first and second frequency ranges is within the host frequency range, wherein the communications device is configured with a reduced capability to receive the signals only within a frequency bandwidth less than the host frequency range and equal to at least one of the first or second frequency range. The communications device is configured to receive the first signalling data from the control channel and the common system information from the one or more communications resources identified by the first signalling data.

  • Patent number: 10764825
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system including first and second groups of terminal devices operable to communicate with a base station via respective first and second network nodes. Each of the first and second groups of terminal devices are synchronized to communicate with the first and second network nodes, respectively, in a discontinuous mode including a repeating signalling cycle including first and second wake periods. The first wake period is a first portion of the repeating signalling cycle and the start of the first wake period is defined by a first offset value relative to the start of the repeating signalling cycle. The second wake period is a second portion of the repeating signalling cycle and the start of the second wake period is defined by a second offset value relative to the start of the repeating signalling cycle, being different from the first offset value.

  • Patent number: 10575305
Abstract: A communications device can transmit and receive data via a wireless access interface provided by a mobile communications network including an infrastructure equipment for transmitting signals to or receiving signals from the communications device. The wireless access interface provides a primary carrier within a first frequency range, which forms a primary cell providing a contiguous set of communications resources across the first frequency range and providing one or more control channels for transmitting signaling message to the communications device or receiving signaling messages from the infrastructure equipment. A controller in combination with a receiver and transmitter can receive from the infrastructure equipment a signaling message identifying a nested carrier including one or more candidate channels selected from a predefined plurality of candidate channels within a second frequency range which is different to and mutually exclusive from the first frequency range.

  • Patent number: 10531472
Abstract: A communications system for device-to-device communications includes a group of plural communications devices, each configured to perform device-to-device communications via a wireless access interface with one or more other communications devices of the group. One of the communications devices is configured to detect interference in communications resources of the wireless access interface caused by signals transmitted by another communications device, and to provide, in response to detecting the interference, an indication of the interference to one or more of the communications device. By the communications device of the first group of communications devices detecting the interference and communicating an indication of the interference to the other members of the group, then members of the group can adapt the transmission and reception of data via the wireless access interface to avoid resources of the wireless access interface which is subject to interference.
