  • Patent number: 12686641
Abstract: Translucency of a yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic is improved to achieve even higher translucency than what is currently offered on the market, without greatly altering its mechanical properties. The enhancement is done by incorporating magnesium-containing dopants into the microstructure of yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic dental ceramics.

  • Publication number: 20260125327
Abstract: Yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic bodies with a composite system comprising two or more phases. The sintered yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic bodies have localized regions with different yttria concentrations within the composite system. These microregions containing varying yttria concentrations result in a non-uniform distribution of yttria ranges which individually contribute to localized characteristics that synergistically provide improved fracture toughness and machinability.

  • Publication number: 20260015289
Abstract: Disclosed herein are aspects of materials comprising a color uniform sintered ceramic comprising iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) and yttria-stabilized zirconia. Also disclosed herein are aspects of a method of forming the sintered ceramic body. A method for making sintered ceramic bodies comprising introducing an iron-containing, yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic material into a furnace; heating the ceramic material in the furnace to a furnace temperature ranging from 1200° C. to 1700° C. for at least 5 minutes; and cooling the ceramic material at a controlled furnace cooling rate ranging from greater than 0° C./minute to 3° C./minute to a temperature ranging from 800° C. to 1200° C.

  • Publication number: 20240246864
Abstract: A zirconia body includes a sintered yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic material, stabilized by 3 mol % to 4.8 mol % yttria, wherein the sintered ceramic material has an opacity of 52% to 65% (when measured on a 1 mm thick fully sintered ceramic body), an average grain size of less than 175 nm, a fracture toughness greater than 2.5 MPa·m1/2, and a millability number<75.
