  • Patent number: 11879561
Abstract: A valve setup for SMB chromatography includes a cassette block, a control block, a swiveling door, and a flexible pressurizing tube. The cassette block is configured to control each of a plurality of valves when an operation surface is in close contact with a control surface of the cassette block. The swiveling door is hinged to the valve control block such that an open state of the door arranges the cassette block such that the control surface is at the operation surface of the control block, and a closed position holds the cassette block with an inner surface of the swiveling door abutting a rear surface of the cassette block opposite the control surface. The flexible pressurizing tube is arranged at the inner surface of the swiveling door so the pressurizing tube presses against the rear surface of the cassette block when the pressure in the tube is increased.

  • Patent number: 11360121
Abstract: A sensor for measuring current flow includes a power generation circuit, a current measurement circuit and a microcontroller. The power generation circuit includes a current transformer that harvests energy from a load applied to the conductor and uses the harvested energy to power the current measurement circuit and microcontroller. The current measurement circuit includes a Hall effect sensor that outputs a voltage signal in response to detecting a magnetic flux generated by the flow of current through the conductor. The microcontroller calculates a current measurement based on the voltage signal received from the current measurement system. The Hall effect sensor is able to generate the voltage signal used to measure current flow at the same time that the current transformer harvests energy from the current flowing through the conductor. A fault detection system is able to alert a user to problems with the current transformer and/or the Hall effect sensor.

  • Patent number: 7848057
Abstract: Various air-actuated components of a disk drive are disclosed. For instance, an air-actuated load/unload ramp may be used by a disk drive and which is movable between a parked position and an operational position. An air-actuated ramp lock may be used by a disk drive to lock a movable load/unload ramp (e.g., one that may move between a parked position and an operational position). Finally, an air-actuated head positioner assembly may be used by a disk drive to lock a head positioner assembly in its parked position. In each of these cases, air currents generated by a rotation of one or more disks used by the disk drive provide the motive force for moving the noted air-actuated component at least generally from one position to another.

  • Patent number: 7782604
Abstract: Isolation of an HDD production device such as a servo track writer from external vibration is provided. The isolated device and its nest or support are suspended in a fashion to allow one, two or three degrees of angular or rotational freedom of movement. The points of suspension are above the center of mass of the isolated device, alone or combined with its nest, and gravity will self-align the isolated device in the manner of an unforced pendulum. A relatively large moment of inertia for at least one direction of angular movement is provided, e.g., by positioning at least one suspension point spaced a relatively large distance from the center of mass to provide a large moment arm for such movement.

  • Patent number: 7221532
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods of making a disk drive and related servo writers. The disk drive includes a data storage disk, an actuator arm, and a head connected to the actuator arm. The disk drive is connected to a servo writer that includes a push-arm that is configured to radially move the actuator arm relative to the disk. The method includes moving the push-arm of the servo writer a defined distance to push the actuator arm and position the head at a defined radial location on the disk. Servo fields are written through the head along an arc at the defined radial location on the disk. A sensor that contacts the actuator arm is used to generate an electrical vibration signal that is indicative of vibration between the push-arm and the actuator arm.
