  • Patent number: 5557374
Abstract: To provide a highly reliable contact type charge unit capable of a creating a uniform charge on a photosensitive layer, a charging member of the charge unit which contacts the photosensitive layer is made from a material having a perpendicular resistivity in a range of between 10.sup.3 to 10.sup.8 .OMEGA.. The perpendicular resistivity is defined by a product of a surface resistivity of the charging member and square of the thickness of the charging member in the current flowing direction.

  • Patent number: 5535088
Abstract: A contacting charging device includes a sheet-shaped charging member and a support member for supporting a charging member at both of its end. A portion of the sheet-shaped charging member contacts the surface of a charge target. The sheet-shaped charging member and the charge target uniformly contact each other, to place a uniform charge on the charge target. The sheet-shaped charging member also has excellent durability.

  • Patent number: 4900415
Abstract: A low temperature cure electrodepositable cathodic resin is disclosed. The resin is the reaction product of a polyepoxide amine adduct and a novel blocked crosslinking agent. The crosslinking agent of our invention is tetramethylxylene diisocyanate blocked with any suitable blocking agent. The resulting resin can be cured at relatively low temperatures (250.degree.-275.degree. F.), which potentially allows the use of the resin with articles containing plastics.

  • Patent number: 4755418
Abstract: A method of preventing the yellowing of the outermost coating of a multicoat coating system is disclosed. The method comprises initially depositing onto a conductive substrate by cathodic electrodeposition a primer coating comprising at least one layer of an amine-epoxy resin adduct and a cross-linking agent, and then curing said primer to a hard, durable film. Then, depositing a second coating onto the primer layer comprising at least one layer of a pigmented film-forming basecoat. Then depositing a third outermost coating onto the second coating comprising at least one layer of a clear, film-forming topcoat, and then curing the basecoat and topcoat.

  • Patent number: 4612338
Abstract: A cathodic electrodepositable resin particularly adapted for use as a grind resin to form a pigment paste. The resin is the reaction product of an aliphatic polyepoxide and a polyether primary amine. The resin composition has anti-foaming properties, is stable in the aqueous dispersion, and contributes to high film build.

  • Patent number: 4605690
Abstract: A reactive diluent for use in an amine-containing epoxy resin composition. The reactive diluent comprises a soft, blocked isocyanate crosslinking agent. This reactive diluent is incorporated into the resin in addition to the primary crosslinking agent. The use of the reactive diluent eliminates or substantially reduces the need for volatile organic coalescent solvents and produces smooth, durable corrosion resistant coatings.

  • Patent number: 4596842
Abstract: Improved electrodepositable resin compositions comprising the reaction product of an epoxide, and, the reaction product of a ketone and an alkanolamine. The introduction of a primary monoamine into the epoxide molecule can be simultaneously done, optionally, with chain extension. The resin compositions can also be used as grind resins.
