  • Publication number: 20080091679
Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for providing a generic sequencing service for ordering processing requests in a scalable business integration environment. When a request is received at a sequencing component, the operation specified in the request is identified. A determination is then made as to whether to sequence the operation according to a sequencing specification. If the operation is to be sequenced, key information of the operation is classified according to the sequencing specification. A lock on the request is then requested using the operation and the key information. Responsive to the lock being granted, a determination is then made as to whether the request is synchronous or asynchronous. If the request is synchronous, the target service component is invoked synchronously. If the request is asynchronous, the target service component is invoked asynchronously.

  • Publication number: 20060050184
Abstract: An apparatus (200) for receiving a digital terrestrial broadcast television signal in combination with another signal from another source includes a modular housing (400) enclosing a radio frequency tuner (211) for receiving the digital terrestrial broadcast television signals and a consumer premise component (320). The consumer premise component (320) includes an external housing (310) enclosing a tuner (210) to receive the other signal and a modular port (330) to accept the modular housing. The modular housing (340) is disposable in the modular port (330). A diplexer (212) can be externally mounted to the apparatus (200). The diplexer (212) includes an input (147) to accept a combined radio frequency signal that includes the other signal and the digital terrestrial broadcast television signal; a first output (142) to couple to the tuner (210); and a second output (143) to couple to the removable radio frequency tuner (211).

  • Patent number: 6820207
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer implemented instructions for controlling power in a data processing system having a plurality of logical partitions. Responsive to receiving a request to turn off the power for a logical partition within the plurality of logical partitions in the data processing system, a determination is made as to whether an additional partition within the plurality of logical partitions is present in the data processing system. The power is turned off in the data processing system in response to a determination an additional partition within the plurality of logical partitions is absent in the data processing system. The logical partition is shut down in response to a determination that an additional partition within the plurality of logical partitions is present in the data processing system. The mechanism of the present invention also provides for rebooting logical partitions. A request is received to reboot a logical partition within the plurality of logical partitions.

  • Publication number: 20040030881
Abstract: In a computer system, upon the occurrence of a reboot command, RunTime Abstraction Services (RTAS) microcode is loaded onto a first host processor. The service processor, upon request from the RTAS microcode, then issues a command to reset all host processors other than the first host processor on which the RTAS microcode resides, and then the RTAS microcode issues a series of commands to reset all I/O adapters. Once the host processors and I/O adapters have been reset, they are initialized to a predetermined, known state. Only after the host processors and I/O adapters have been reset and initialized is the reboot request executed. By resetting all but the first host processor and the I/O adapters before executing the reboot request, all activity originating from the host processors and from the I/O drawers is terminated, so that when the reboot request is executed, the host processors and I/O drawers are ready for initialization.
