    Abstract: A voice-synthesizer driven by matrix-type panel displays of the type that present alpha-numeric characters captures all or part of the digital values that are used to drive the message display and uses the so-capture information to address a look-up table (44) that outputs a series of digital values to a voce-synthesizer (30). The process is triggered by an alarm status signal so that the voce-synthesizer (30) functions to articulate an alarm message and not articulate non-alarm messages.
