  • Publication number: 20240425446
Abstract: A process of forming a cyclopropenimine (CPI) is disclosed. The process includes obtaining a solution of pentachlorocyclopropane (PCC) dissolved in a first solvent and adding a secondary amine to the solution. The process further includes obtaining precipitated products, including a CPI chloride (CPI?Cl) salt and a secondary amine salt, of a reaction between the secondary amine and the PCC and mixing the precipitated products in a second solvent. The CPI?Cl salt is substantially soluble in the second solvent and the secondary amine salt is substantially insoluble in the second solvent. A CPI composition, an apparatus containing the CPI composition, a process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) with the CPI composition, and a process of generating carbonate with the CPI composition are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20240400786
Abstract: Introduce into a reactor a polyurethane having a benzylic linkage. In one aspect, induce a chemical reduction through a reducing agent and a catalyst to depolymerize the polyurethane having the benzylic linkage. In another aspect, introduce hydrogen bromide into the reactor, and react the polyurethane with the hydrogen bromide to recover constituents of the polyurethane via acid-catalyzed bromine-substitution to cleave the benzylic linkage of the polyurethane.

  • Patent number: 11975290
Abstract: A process, composition, and apparatus for carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration are disclosed. The process includes passing air containing the CO2 through a cyclopropeneimine (CPI)-functionalized material. The composition includes a CPI-functionalized material that reacts with CO2 when mixed with air containing the CO2. The apparatus includes a component for providing a CPI-functionalized material and mixing the material with CO2 gas.

  • Publication number: 20240083840
Abstract: A process, apparatus, and cyclopropenimine (CPI) material for generating metal carbonates are disclosed. Generating the metal carbonates comprises reacting carbon dioxide (CO2) with CPI. Generating the metal carbonates also comprises forming a reaction mixture comprising water, metal cations, and a product of the reacting.

  • Publication number: 20240075454
Abstract: A process, composition, and apparatus for carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion are disclosed. The CO2 conversion comprises reacting CO2 with a cyclopropenimine (CPI) to activate the CO2 and transferring the activated CO2 to generate a product of the transferring. The transferring also generates a conjugate acid of the CPI. The process further comprises regenerating the CPI from the conjugate acid.

  • Publication number: 20240076448
Abstract: A process, apparatus, and material for generating polymers are disclosed. Generating the polymers comprises reacting carbon dioxide (CO2) with a cyclopropenimine (CPI). Generating the polymers further comprises reacting monomers with a product of the reaction between the CPI and the CO2.

  • Patent number: 11878269
Abstract: A composition, process, and apparatus are disclosed. The composition includes a cyclopropeneimine-carbon dioxide (CPI-CO2) adduct. The process includes forming the CPI-CO2 adduct by reacting a CPI with CO2 gas. The apparatus includes components for providing the CPI and mixing the CPI with CO2 gas. The mixing results in formation of the CPI-CO2 adduct.
