  • Publication number: 20230120782
Abstract: A photobiomodulation (PBM) device including eyewear (e.g., incorporating prescription or non-prescription lenses) that is worn throughout the day is provided. The PBM device provides longer-term light delivery throughout the day and may capture patient compliance, provide real-time dose adjustments, and allow for HIPAA-compliant communication with the prescribing clinician. The PBM device provides a wearable, open eye device format designed for increased compliance, lower cost, and greater convenience.

  • Publication number: 20220395697
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for treating ischemic stroke by illuminating a skin surface to reduce free radical generation in subsurface target tissues (e.g., the brain following an ischemic event). The method utilizes a waveguide that receives light from a light source. The waveguide is placed adjacent a skin surface of a patient and the waveguide emits light that passes through the skin surface and illuminates a subsurface target tissue. The waveguide includes light-extracting features configured to emit light at a target angle relative to the surface tissue. That is, the light-extracting features alter a trajectory of light emitted by the waveguide, such that a larger percentage of light emitted by the light guide has an angle that is +/?25 degrees off of a center line of the light guide.

  • Publication number: 20220088409
Abstract: A surgical site disinfection device is provided for disinfecting a surgical site. The surgical site disinfection device directs electromagnetic radiation having germicidal properties into the surgical site using a light guide.

  • Patent number: 10969272
Abstract: Methods and systems for modulating a manufactured light source are disclosed. Methods and systems of the present disclosure include sensor assemblies having first and second light sensors to retrieve light spectrum data at a target location, such as from a surface in an interior space at a home, office, or commercial building, that also receives daylight exposure. The first light sensor retrieves the light spectrum data within a spectrum of the manufactured light source. The second light sensor retrieves light spectrum data outside of the spectrum of the manufactured light source, yet within the spectrum of daylight. The light spectrum data is used to define spectral characteristics at the target location, such as a ratio of daylight to the manufactured light source, phase of daylight, and average overall quantity, which are used to maximize light-associated benefits of the spectral composition for the occupants at the target location, such as humans, plants, and animals.
