Patent number: 4815512Abstract: A tread surface profile including a three-part configuration. A circumferentially extending, centrally disposed, linear or zigzagged rib has connected on both sides thereof a plurality of central blocks that are separated from the rib by shallow and narrow venting grooves. On both sides of the rib, pluralities of profiled blocks that extend from a tire shoulder toward the rib, with the profiled blocks being separated from the central blocks of the latter by longitudinal, circumferentially extending channels, and being separated from one another by lateral channels. The profiled blocks and the central blocks are arranged in S-shaped configurations that extend over the width of the tread surface in a diagonal fashion. The shoulder end of each profiled block is oriented axially at an angle of from 90.degree. to 80.degree. relative to the central tire plane, and each rib end of the central blocks is oriented circumferentially at an angle of from 35.degree. to 55.degree. relative to the central tire plane.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1987Date of Patent: March 28, 1989Assignee: Uniroyal Englebert Reifen GmbHInventors: Manfred Gerresheim, Jurgen Sommer, Dionysius J. Patent number: 4768573Abstract: A pneumatic tire vehicle wheel which is employable for emergency running or operation. The unitary or one-piece rim with slanted, inclined or cylindrical rim shoulder and rim flange is provided with an emergency running or operating support which is constructed radially elevated in a cap-like configuration. The tire beads are constructed turnable or rotatable around the bead core and are capable of being shifted or displaced in an eccentric manner upon the rim. The round or square bead core lies upon a radial height or level of at least 0.4.times. the rim flange height in the tire bead.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1987Date of Patent: September 6, 1988Assignee: Uniroyal Englebert Reifen GmbHInventors: Dionysius J. Poque, Heinz-Dieter Rach

Patent number: 4724881Abstract: A cap ply for the belt reinforcing member of a pneumatic vehicle tire. The heat shrinking reinforcing elements of the cap ply are oriented in the circumferential direction of the tire, and consists of monofilament threads or monofilament cords, and have a filament fineness of at least 250 decitex. These monofilaments fulfill a wrapping function, and at the same time are airtight. The monofilaments also prevent corrosion of the steel plies of the belt.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1986Date of Patent: February 16, 1988Assignee: Uniroyal Englebert Reifen GmbHInventors: Dionysius J. Poque, Manfred Gerresheim

Patent number: 4641670Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a one-piece wheel rim on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire. The tire has a tread strip, two sidewalls, a carcass, and two tire beads which are laterally spaced from one another and contain substantially inextensible bead cores. The wheel rim has two rim shoulders, which are laterally spaced from one another and extend outwardly into a respective rim edge or into a respective rim flange. The rim also has a radially recessed rim base. The wheel further includes an emergency operation support member which is disposed in the recessed rim base and has a supporting surface which is located radially outwardly of the rim flange. The emergency operation support member is provided with a radially inner surface which faces the rim shoulder and is disposed at a distance from the latter, this distance corresponding to at least the thickness of the tire bead. An annular chamber is provided which extends further radially inwardly to the recessed rim base, and is widened axially inwardly.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1984Date of Patent: February 10, 1987Assignee: Uniroyal Englebert Reifen GmbHInventors: Dionysius J. Poque, Norbert Zinnen

Patent number: 4328852Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire including a carcass, particularly a radial carcass, a tread, and a belt-like reinforcement formed of at least two cord plies radially superimposed one above the other. At least one of the plies has rubberized metallic cord elements, and the other suitably has non-metallic cord elements. The cord elements cross each other from ply to ply, and the width of at least one cord ply is approximately equal to the width of the tread. The metallic cord elements, which particularly are made of brass-plated steel wire, further comprise a core and a mantle of wire, with the mantle including several twisted individual wires of equal size. The metallic cord elements in the cord ply comprise a core of a single wire filament, and a mantle comprising at least three single wire filaments. The mantle wire filaments respectively have a part which radially engages the wire filament of the core.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1981Date of Patent: May 11, 1982Assignee: Uniroyal EnglebertInventors: Dionysius J. Patent number: 4284117Abstract: A steel belted radial ply tire construction characterized by an improved cap ply is disclosed. In the finished tire, a cap ply is formed from at least one layer of rubberized yarns of synthetic filamentary textile material. The cap ply is disposed in direct surrounding relation to the radially outermost belt ply of the tire. Since the cap ply is formed from single yarns rather than cords, the cap ply is thinner than conventional cap plies, has superior flexibility and heat dissipation characteristics. This abstract is not to be taken either as a complete exposition or a limitation of the present invention, the full nature and extent of the invention being discernable only by reference to and from the entire disclosure.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1979Date of Patent: August 18, 1981Inventors: Dionysius J. Poque, Horst Lorenz

Patent number: 4166490Abstract: A pneumatic radial tire in which the oblique pulling effect due to the structure of the tire is substantially eliminated and which has substantially improved stability in maintaining a rectilinear course. The tread has circumferentially oriented rows of lugs oriented along intersecting convexly curved approximately V-shaped reference lines running substantially transversely to the circumferential center line. The tips of the reference lines point in opposite directions on either side of the circumferential center line.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1977Date of Patent: September 4, 1979Assignee: Uniroyal GmbHInventor: Dionysius J. Poque

Patent number: 4135566Abstract: Belted pneumatic tire having a reinforcing textile layer disposed between the tread and the carcass. The reinforcing textile layer can be transversely continuous or discontinuous across the crown region of the tire and extends into the shoulder areas. In the shoulder areas the reinforcement is a plural layer formed by a folding over of the textile. The tire may include a metallic breaker located above or below the textile reinforcement. The folded portion of the textile extends beyond the marginal edges by the metal breaker. The cords of either the textile or metal layers can be oriented at zero degrees to the equatorial plane of the tire.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1977Date of Patent: January 23, 1979Assignee: Uniroyal GmbHInventors: Gerhard F. Senger, Dionysius J. Poque
